Knocking

I was driving the car home today and it just started knocking I know your supposed to use the higher octane gas we haven't used it since we got the car but we haven't had it a month so what could possibly be wrong here could it be a knock sensor or bigger problems?

post a vid if you can, could be a bunch of stuff, from cracked flywheel to dead engine, i dont think the gas had anything to do with it.

I'm uploading one to you tube now I will post link when its done my phone wont allow me to send it to my email its too big

thats a good one. in the mean time till others check in, if you can get the car in the air, remove the plastic shield under the bell housing, then with a flash light you can see the flywheel, look for cracks, then start the car and see if it is loud, it maybe hard to see but you might see something, if its loud under there it should be a cracked flywheel.

I'll try to get it in the air but the knock is more toward the top of the engine but I should also add it didn't want to start this time around either

hmm i would suggest gettin on the ground a seeing if its loud down there.. my buddys gtp started "knocking" and it seemed like it was in the top half of the motor turned out to be the flex plate

Probably your knock sensor not sensing knocking enough.

For someone who's such a 3800 god you would think that you could add information that might actually be of use to the OP.

This. Get the shield out of the way and see if it gets louder. To really narrow it down grab a stethoscope and start checking various points of the engine/oil pan/bellhousing. I just had a flex plate go on me a few weeks ago and it sounded a lot like that.

if you had a bad lifter, or bent push rod or bad rocker, it would feel weak.

hows your oil look? is it clean, not like a milk shake? are you losing coolant, with out seeing it on the ground? if so it could be the bottom end.

Alright so I've concluded it has to be internal because there is metal flakes in the oil I am going to cut the oil filter open tomorrow to confirm this but I'm 95 percent sure I seen flakes in the oil.
