Knob under ashtray



Like you took the ashtray out and there's a knob underneath it? Might be the shift release button. Can you snap a pic?
 


Does anything happen if you turn it? It kinda looks like its just a cap for a bolt, my other thought is that maybe it holds the ashtray in place. Is there anything similar on the bottom of the ashtray?
 
Its a rotary knob of some sort. Not a screw cover and the ashtray is already out and I found this puzzling knob under it.
 
See if u can look under n find out if it has wires goin to it? And wer they go.. if there r some??
 


I'm guessing by the responses that this mystery knob is not a factory installed item. It turns just short of 1 revolution before it stops. Can't see any wiring at the moment but my OCD has kicked in and I won't be able to sleep until I figure out what this thing is. I'm going in!
 


PO probably had a sub amp. Looks like a bass knob. Pull it up and see if it has what looks like a phone line connected to it.
