Keyless Remote Issue

The keyless remote on my '08 GXP sometimes works normally and sometimes not. One FOB works better than the other--better range--but even the better one sometimes will not lock the doors. Persistent pressing the lock button will eventually lock the doors--sometimes. When it won't lock, sometimes you can hear a click inside the car as though a relay is operating, but the doors don't lock. My wife says when this happens, the lock switch on the driver's armrest does not work either, which leads me to believe the problem is in-car wiring.

Unlock works more reliably, but not always. The trunk release always works. Remote start works if the doors lock.

Any ideas?

I have randomly had the same problem on my 08. Have not figured it out either. Seems like a BCM when it happens. I have switched it to just the driver door locking and unlocking ( the rest stay locked all the time unless you double click the unlock) and it has seemed to minimize it happening.

Open the FOB and check the battery hold down. The solder isn't good from the factory and they like to lose connection. Also the button pads themselves wear out. Some people have used foil on the backside of the button, but you can buy a whole case for a few dollars and throw your circuit board inside it and have one good as new.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I'll try cleaning and checking the solder connections. I've seen new cases for less than $5 each. That will be my next try.

My wife says, however, that when the remote doesn't work, she can't lock the doors with the inside switch either--needs to manually push down the lock buttons on each door. I haven't experienced this yet, but if I do, I'll know that the problem is inside the car, not with the fobs.

Same issue I have. I don’t think it is your fob’s. Hope you can figure it out. I’m stumped and just learned to deal with it. Goes in streaks.

Problem with door locks has changed. Replacing the remote fobs cured the intermittent non-response to the remote. They worked 100% until the weather got warm. Now, intermittently, the doors will not lock with the door switches or the remote. Unlock always works with remote or door switches.

When the doors won't lock, the exterior lights flash, indicating that the signal is getting to the computer. No click and none of the four lock. That tells me the problem is in the wiring from the computer to the doorlock power harness. Any ideas on where to begin looking?
