The wife lost the keys while is was deployed overseas. Got the dealer to cut a new one for me (PK3). It won't turn over even now. I've had problems in the past with the selinoid and the magnetic release, but I've pulled the plug out of the bottom cover under the steering wheel in order to get the key to release. No problems out of that since. It's been sitting for 4 or 5 months and now that I have a new key I can't get it to turn at all. When the key's inserted it makes the the connections lights and dings and what not.

The light blinks but that's it. The key was coded by the dealership. As for the programming, no. They said the car had to be there for them to do it. No key meant a tow truck. That I can't afford at this junction. Programming it myself seemed to be the only other alternative

programming? really? ...it's just a piece of metal.:th_shrugshoulders: I got a spare key cut for $2 at the hardware store and it worked just fine. What am I missing here. My key is a PK3 as well...

However, the key was a tad bit off in the cutter and I had to pull the key out just a hair in order for the lock to line up right. Try that...

sitting for 4 or 5 months,,dead battery charge it up or test it.

The Key won't turn in the ignition. The battery's charged.
if u got lights and the dash lights up it may be the starter,,try giving it a few nice hits with a hammer, or take it out and have it tested, no car likes to sit for months. it may have seized up. or the solenoid took a dump. just a shot in the dark, good luck

Thanks, but it has to be something in the switch. I don't get lights on the dash just the doors with the door open ding stopping when the key is inserted. i can't even get it to turn in the switch to see what other problems there may be. I'm about to take a hammer to the whole thing

i feel ya lol. theres plenty of write ups on the ignition switch replacement, from what I've read/ remember they are pretty cheep to buy a new one, i haven't have the pleasure of doing one yet, just jinxed myself i know it.

nope try taking the lock cylinder out of the ignition. had it happen to two cars on me. i tested coil on the one and it was open don`t know about the other. its just below the key inside the steering colum. it just pushes or pulls on a locking pin for the key. pull the cover off the ignition its got a white plastic clip that holds the steel body in. Just BS ya dont need it.
