Key Fob Half Working

So my key fob for my 05 GP is only half working. I put a battery in it since it wasn't working at all. Now the alarm will work and the trunk will pop but the doors won't lock or unlock and the remote start will not work.

So not sure if the remote is bad or if the car doesn't recognize the remote or what. I have no idea how these work.

So are the button pads conductive somehow? I don't get how pressing the buttons does anything if they're not?

I cleaned them up gonna go try and see if it works now.

they have metallic coating on the button pads, those round things under the buttons. they get dirty, and the wires on the board get dirty.

if you put the battery in and take a coin to the board where the buttons touch the doors will unlock/lock.

Ok so now it locks and unlocks and the button for the remote start will make the car chime and the dash says remote start disabled.

I've heard if the car has a trouble code. There's no MIL on and the light is working as it lights up on the bulb test. ABS light is on but I wouldn't think that would do anything.

So whats next Scotty?

That's a good idea ^^ Thanks for posting that.
I'll probably do that. It'll help so I don't have to press hard. But now I need to figure out why it's saying the remote start system is disable on the DIC

It has to do with how many times the button was pushed during a short time frame. Had this issue when I was dicking around with the remote start. I forgot the instructions but it's in the owners manual
