Key doen't want to open my door

So just like the title says my key does not want to open my door. I put the key in the door and if I turn it to the right it will make a lock/unlock noise and if I turn it to the left I get no noise at all. I have misplaced my main key set at the moment with my key fob but I believe turning it to the right should open it and turning it to the left should lock it correct? If so that would make sense why I don't hear anything when I turn it to the left but still I am confused at why it will not unlock. Any help? Thanks for the help in advance!

Mine did that so I just never locked it.

Time to pull the door panel off and look around. I'm guessing your key neither locks nor unlocks the door? I would pull the panel off n check everything could have a rod that's disconnected or broken plastic where it connected to.

It locks the door I believe, I need to check again to be sure. What do you suggest I check? I have never had to do this before so a little help would be appreciated!

Take the door Panel off and look up inside the door. You'll see a lock rod vertically attached to I wanna say a red clip. Stick your key in the door and verify that it is turning and moving the rod up and Down. From there it attaches to the power door lock actuator which has a couple other rods attached also. If everything is connected and moving as it should only thing I could guess is maybe ya need a new one?
