Decided to hack up my dash to install a HUD that I pulled off a car in the junkyard. (I made sure everything worked before cutting up the dash) It went as smooth as butter. It is a pretty simple and straight forward process. Just trace the outline of the HUD dash bezel, then draw another line about 1 1/2" inside of that line. Then cut the shít up. Its pretty important to protect your windshield. It is really easy to scar your windshield. Mine was pre-wired for the HUD and control unit so it cut the time involved dramatically.

No HUD

The mess. Guess you cant see in the photo, but there was fine black plastic dust everywhere

Dash cover in. This was really the most involved part of this project. Had to keep cutting around the 3 clip holes (closest to the steering wheel) to get it to snap down completely.

Really pretty simple. Im gonna give it a few days to see if I want to keep the bezel black, or paint the color of my original bezel (tan). Right now I like it black/charcoal...my opinion may change once I get used to it.

And a video of it working. It is pretty cool. Not sure why my car didnt come with it (it came with everything else). Not sure what that ticking is. I cant normally hear it. Im thinking it was the cam bouncing on the dash.

Looking sweet! i had the idea of getting a HUD once, didn't wanna hack up dash, but that looked easy :D

It really was, man. You're just flying blind sometimes while cutting. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants one. It cost me $25 for the display unit, dash bezel and control unit from a junk yard.

FWIW if I had a GP, I'd swap the dash because the local yard is cheap for them. Did that in a Bonne before.

Looks great Keith, also nice to see someone else say the same things I do about this kind of install.

is that brown and tan interior?
Yes. People call it "peanut butter". Im not the biggest fan, but people seem to really like it.

Thanks Bill. Swapping the dash seems like it would be way more involved than just 45 minutes of cutting.

I wish someone with that harness would figure out all the wire colors and where they go and where to get the connector. That way I could try doing this to my car (Monte Carlo). That was the one thing that Monte Carlos never came with.
