Kaizerz Karz - New GTP!

Re: Kaizerz Karz - GTP Sadness

aww. the GTP was already? i checked out your 04 build thread too. good luck on the build
Yeah.... Cool, thanks!

Just about finished icing my hood (had a good dent in front, and some hail dents) and sanding, hoping my Dad has time next week to prime and paint my GT2 front clip. Thanks to idj for the great advice on my hood and bumper restoration!

Also, bought an '04 GTP today. Listed for $2800, got it for $1650, lol.

It needs some work....

Basics of the car: 170k polo green GTP with HUD, 5 button DIC, 6CD changer, Monsoon sound, sunroof, leather, ect.

Pros:
Clean Title
Auto Start
4 tires with 200 miles on them
new rear breaks
VC and ignition recall
New starter
New power steering hose
New block heater
New air filter
New windshield wipers

Cons:
cosmetic issues; needs bumper and passenger rear door, couple rust spots, ding, two fair scratches
ABS randomly comes on, engine light is on - seems to be just the one code
driver's rear window doesn't work
exhaust sounds like it might need mufflers at some point, or a cat
sometime the shifter doesn't want to shift out of park (like, the level itself moves hard)
tranny oil is low
some sort of clunk when reversing rapidly from D, seems like it might just be the hood....
no cold air
HUD doesn't appear to do anything
console armrest thing is shot
driver's seat has a decent worn spot, some interior wear, but not bad for 170k

Overall I think I did fine at $1650, enough leeway room to fix stuff without exceeding the worth of the car - should be an exciting project. Thinking I'll get the GT2 finished and drive that for a month or two while I work on the GTP, then switch DDs and sell the GT2 for $1000-$1200 profit.

Ah, makes sense.
I LOVE polo green on these cars. Nice find!
Me too, it's probably my favorite, although bermuda blue, fusion orange, and the GXP cherry are pretty close. Thanks!

Picked up a bumper this afternoon, didn't like paying $375, but it was the only one in the four state area in green and didn't want to paint another one - plus only had to spend two hours driving total to get it.

Need more 7th gens, right? Funny how all three of those car had/have front end and right and rear or right side damage, lol.

Swapped bumpers on the GTP, much better. Checked all the wheel hub wiring connectors because of the C0405 ABS code - nada, looks like I'll be replacing one. Tried to figure out where the boost solenoid the P0243 code references is at so I can see if there's something up with it, or maybe need a new one.

Also found some nice oil leakage, coming from somewhere.... seems to be coming off the pan, and up along the block (see first picture), not sure where that's coming from.

Purple power and a pressure washer first, then see where it's coming from.

The one spot almost looks reddish in color, like trans fluid. Who knows you might clean it up and it may not even be leaking that bad. Sometimes that stuff is built up over years.

Okay, that's what I was thinking.

Well, the trans oil is low - can I just dump some of the correct Dex in it from Wal-Mart and call it a day, or should I drain what I can, drop the pan, throw in a shift kit and fill it back up?

Sent from my LG G4 using TapTalk.

Getting a right-color bumper in decent shape is worth going quite a ways. Win!

Started cleaning the interior, gross...
Getting a quote for fixing the rust.
My cat is shot, so I'm going to get a resonator - since our exhausts are 2.25 do I need a 2.5 resonator to slide over my existing piping? Then, I'd need one size bigger than: http://www.amazon.com/Thrush-24205-...=1-1&keywords=thrush+glass+pack+muffler+2+1/2 ?
Also, my belts are squealing, so ordering a Gatorback for the accessory/Serpentine belt, but I remember reading somewhere on here that the Gatorback "tread" design isn't the best for superchargers, that the normal ribbed is better - can't seem to find that thread, anyone know if this is true and if so what brand belt should I get for the supercharger one?
Additionally, my steering wheel vibrates upon breaking, thinking my rotors are warped - maybe a good excuse to go GXP? lol Also, got a clunk in the front end, we're thinking it's either motor mounts or it needs A-arm bushings. So, I'll try and rock the engine in the morning, see if it's the mounts - if not looks like I can put that Dorman swaybar I bought to good use, lol.
Got a fair amount of lights not working in the interior, most of the 6CD changer (which doesn't work...) ones don't, the ones along the shifter are all dead, and some of the climate control lights are dead. Might need to put an order into Diode Dynamics...

Ah, yes, and I bought Torque Pro, but my phone doesn't seem to want to find the OBD2 bluetooth device, lights are on and everything with the car running.... gotta figure out how to use that thing then too, should be exciting.... haha.
