k&N filter yes or no?



Just no.. If you want to do something intake related though there are multiple threads about "Home Depot Intakes". Basically a Spectre cone from Auto Zone and some PVC from Home Depot. It works just as well if not better than a K&N CAI for a fraction of the price..

Measure the restrictions in your intake before jumping to conclusions.

The point of an air filter is to filter.

If you're fine having your valve seats and rings wear quicker, by all means. If you're not, do some homework first. Don't just do something because the internet or a company who sells the product says so.
 
I didn't say anything that was quantifiable. I said try breathing through a piece of paper and then a t shirt. I suggest you do some research before jumping to conclusions.
 


250k miles with 150k being K&N filtered valve seats, cylinder cross hatching compression and everything were all just fine. They filter well enough, but the idea of flow vs filtration is a give and take thing things that flow better can't filter better, think of a screen door, it will flow great but won't filter much, while a steel plate will filter out everything including the air.
 
To be fair, the ZR1 corvette makes how much horsepower? Uses a stock ACDelco paper filter... not a K&N.

Just sayin.
 
And how much does that same vette make with a k&n;) anyway if ur that worried about slightly shortening engine life leave ur car bone stock since addin hp wears ur bearings out faster

I've had my k&n filter for 4 years and no problems. Clean and re oil it once a year and forgot about it. The filter doesn't cost more then any other cone filter and your not gonna notice a difference in flow, hp, ect. Most of that is bs. Most people say there a waist of money and OEM is better yet a cone air filter is the first mod most people do. Doesn't make sense to me. If your thinking of buying a k&n filter than go buy one and enjoy it.
 
Most people usually jump to a CAI or FWI or Short Ram Intake, with a cone filter. But if you just change the filter and keep the stock box, a K&N filter won't do much of anything due to the restrictions in the stock tubing and air box.
