Just bought my first GP, few questions

Names Zak, I just bought a 97 GT with about 98k on it, saw this site on google and decided to join up! I'm about to buy a new stereo head unit and some subs/amp and was wondering what you guys recommend? Also what are some performance mods that you guys reccommend i start with? I think I'm gonna do a K&N filter and cold air intake first, what should come after that?
 


first off if u wanna mod a car dont do 97 as the transmission is weak u want 98 or newer for the gts and gtp doesnt reall matter but if u want performance mods and u arnt gunna go crazy get a down pipe or u bend delete cone filter hv3 and a plog and pcm will def make the car quicker around 1 sec

hes saying that the 97 models all have weak transmissions but were replaced with any 98+ models. so before you start getting into any heavy modding, you might wanna replace your trans with something more recent (4T65E i think its called). but yeah, welcome!

what hes saying is if you want to make the car quicker get a plog, ( replaces front exhaust manifold) a downpipe ( exhaust pipe that strecthes from rear manifold to cat.) a cone filter ( or any new intake, search on here you can make your own for cheap) hv3 insert ( im a gtp guy, dont ask me lol) and a tune for said mods. doing this will make the car quicker. but if you want to build a "fast" gp you should look to replace your transmission as the 97s had weak trannies

you may want to look into headers rather than the dp/plog as they are cheaper and better ( idk about on a N/A vehicle, do some searching)
