• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Just a Phantom Black Metallic GTO..Named Shadow

sooooooo many wheels in 5x120 to choose from.

Kinda, sorta, not really in the GTO world.

* Can't be to wide without minitubing
* Can't have to much offset, unless you like Mexi-poke
* Have to roll fenders for 19's
* have to fit my budget, which is 0 for the car right now.(thanks to the glass house 4L65E)

So my only option was to buy $20 worth of spray paint and shoot them Gloss Black.

I might be right or wrong with the little list, but I'm still learning.

The work pretty well on the silver car. Keep in mind you will need to trim the rear quarters and roll them flat, and with the 275/35/18 rears I still get a bit of rub on big bumps or hard acceleration. Drag Bags are in the near future.

we have the same issues. you gotta be aggressive with a fender roller and running slightly more camber than stock and you can fit a lot more than you think.

The first Gen Vs will take a bit more tire with less finesse than a GTO, but keep in mind negative camber on a DD eats tires. The 275/ 18X9 work pretty good IMO. I'll never go wider on it. Plus, most anyone other than a Goat owner thinks they're stock. :)

someone on ls1gto just traded his 06 ibm gto, 36k, its going for a steal $13k i think

the ls2 has its issues too, its not all rainbows and unicorns

ls2 tends to burn oils
ls2 gto's have electronic throttle bodies (which are irritating)

all manual gto's firewalls have a tendency to crack, since we are left hand drive gm had to relocate the driver seat, the hole was stamped punched in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder, gm didn't think to reinforce the hole for stress, the gto's Australian twin doesn't have this problem

parts are terribly expensive or impossible to get, have to get everything used or order from aussie land (this doesn't include motor/trans

new headlights cost like $1k (ea), unless you get cheapo halo's off ebay, you cant order headlights from aussie land because the drivers headlight is fixed to aim at on-coming traffic

i didn't mean to go off, started a thought and i had to finish lol
damn man, yea i been reading up on gtos for a while now, seems like its gonna be money pit and for a DD thats def not something i need haha, still love em though

when i get around to it i'm hoping to put a 20x10.5 +45mm wheel with a 275/30R20 out back. it's gonna take some work with the roller.

That will look awesome on the V, right now I have other things that are in need of repair, so the Goat is on the back burner for now.

Taught my 15 year old Son how to wash his truck today and then washed the Goat. It was a good day here in Central TX.

15?? When can they get their permit?

He has a permit. He turns 16 this August. When he graduates High School I am going to sign over the title to him. Until then I am going to educate him the best I can. Nothing worse than not being somewhat vehicle savy. I want his school education to be first and life lessons second. I know I spoil him(cause I can $$), but that doesn't mean I'm easy on him.

I posted this on IG, but here for the GPF guys not on IG.

Did something today that's kinda frowned upon in the GTO community because of all the FPFQ asshats, but because I ball on a budget, it was either this or deal with the current situation.

I have done lots of reading about using footballs as "drag bags" on these cars, people swear by it and say that it really works. other people say, just drop the money on real drag bags, which cost $120ish.

So I went the cheap route, why? cause I give no FVCKS. I was tired of the "Pontiac Sag", reverse rake(front sat higher), and all around loose rear end. Rant, flame or bash if you want, but it's my car, so hug deezz if no like.

Plus side of using Footballs as drag bags-
1. Cost- $21 bucs
2. NO MORE SAG
3. Firmer, yet smoother ride
4. From a dig with WOT, no more wheel hop, just hooks and goes
5. Handles corners better
6. Overall feel is better
7. More Smiles Per Gallon

before install, remember, the front sits higher at this time

Install, looks funny, but works!!!

That's pretty funny, but clever, actually. It's too bad the fill hole is basically covered with the spring. It'd be easy to "firm" up the suspension more. Too bad you couldn't get a red football just to piss the guys off even more, lolol.

I almost said I wonder what the salt will do to these. Then I remembered where you live lol interesting idea tho woulda never thought of that

< Waits for the next time you take it in to get a alignment lol the look on the mechanics face would be priceless

Thanks, it is funny, but does actually work lol. Wally world had no red ones, would have been cooler.

Yes Sir, no salt here. Saw it a while back on FB and the poster caught hell for it, did some research to find out lots of people do it.

Well, I get alignments for free from a family friend, told him last weekend about doing this haha.

If you bought decent footballs they maybe a hair stronger than drag bags anyway

Actually, your right and I did.

Most owners of real drag bags post up that after a year, one or both bags "POP" because it's just somewhat thick rubber.

The footballs I used are Leather wrapped and should be ok. Max psi is 9 lbs, but the max I hear people run in the real ones is 15 psi(for track) and 8-10(daily street use), so I consider this a win.
