Speaking of sick, and thanks Kaiser, heres a gory rendition of Betty's story:
This was the air-conditioned gas mileage car that was supposed to change life for the better. Meh but yay, GP! First day-
That was in July 09 and I had just put the 455 in the '69. Betty had 117K and a bad diff so I had the trans rebuilt first thing. Pre-GPF knowledge but yeah. On Christmas morning I learned about ice and ABS and left a mark. Nothing a bodyman can't help disappear, right?
Lesson learned and many happy adventures followed. She grew on me and we went exploring-
Years passed, then came "the smashing times". 2013. I got smashed into in every month starting in J! Damn them. This one had no insurance.
See the Sonic in the first pic background? Going the other direction 6 months later, I was hit again by a lane changer on my left front up by Sonic. Baaad spot!
After all that, I replaced the door. Not a month went by before she got the disabling shot. The guy whipped across five lanes and never saw me going 40. Blasted my suspension so it took her out of the game. It hurt, I was mad.
In this pic you see the flat spotted fender from the June wreck, too.
Yeah maybe not her first rodeo, lots of red paint under the black fender and hood. Still... its wadded up behind that somewhat too.
Thats when I got the 40th and little did I know the worst was yet to come... twice at least. The GTP has been hit the same number of times now and the 40th is scrap for China. Sigh. I live too far from work. Anyway-
Just a little memory trip I dug up while sorting pics. But thats a tough car, man. She went through a lot to be sitting in front of my house now all shiny still and showing only two big dents. The suspension is still kinda blasted but well, read back a ways here if you wanna know about that. The world is cruel to shiny things so travel safely!
