Junk I drive

Those things are high as a California redwood! Why do all my local parts stores (yes even Advance) not keep them but they have the whole ass'y? Will the GT sender swap? I know the pump isn't same. Thanks bandook but hang tight, no need for shipping something yet thanks. Its pretty easy to deal with, just an annoyance. I burn 10.5 to 11 gallons EVERY week, never road trip. 40 mile-a-day commute plus errands and a few chow runs maybe. Hey I could just swap it for the 02 GTP pump in Mike's Jeep while he's all gimpy, ha. Then say whaddayamean your gas gauge don't work? That pump has like 90K less miles.

I loves my new tires. Just wish the alignment kid had said "only one measurement is really out of spec" rather than the deer in headlights " I don;t know WHAT anybody could do, your wheel is like an inch forward!", I might not have been so uptight. Boy the GT needs the fronts squared up... I put gas in that thing last nite and it was wierd to not press the fuel selection button on the right. Getting more gas wasn't wierd though.

Some nice junk here

Thanks, young un. Just keep lookin at em from 20 feet. Hows the slowkar treating you? Slowly? Tell her Betty says a naturally aspirated and slow hello. Hey what modded rides you got going in GTA, any at all? My fav in 4 was the hot Sabre. Good lookin ride.

Oh I got quite a bit of custom rides, I'll take some screenies tomorrow I haven't played GTA in while I've actually (dont laugh too hard) started getting back into runescape lol . Slowkar is good, some random issues but they'll get sorted out or ignored.

Ignorance is part of the GP GT game, ain't it? With mine it is! Nab screens n slap m up. Except for the Faggio if you have one of those. I should go see what cars are new in 5. Vigero and Stallion are 2nd and 3rd choices after Sabre GT, turbo, whatev. Of course a Dukes with bug catcher is ultimate if you're into Mopars.

Scotty, Russo, I'm laughin so hard my sides hurt... CL thread.... sorry had to. I said y'all once and Scotty gave me the pink limpwristed smiley LMAO.

All of mine I think are mostlys tuners I got a sultan with the RS body kit deal, elgy which is like a GTR, armored karuma which is and armored evo, sandking xl (lifted truck), a hearse. Only thing right now muscle Related is a Dominator which is like an 05-14 style stang, and a corquette which is like the newer vettes, a Zentorno which is like a lambo and a comet and a jeep thing

Ah, that Dominator is new. Named for a race carb. Must more muscle. San Andreas had the 3rd gen Camaro called Buffalo. Liked that one but I see its the late Charger now.

It is indeed. Still chuckling... dashiwufuni!

The GT sure peels out gooder with crappy alignment, ha ha. Just took her out for a spin again. Animals seem to be attracted to it now. I haven't hit any but ever since I got that car back up and going I've seen like 10X the normal amount of dimly lit wildlife ahead. A big buck almost caught the GTP a couple weeks ago, but other than that nothing. In the GT I've braked for one great big turtle, geese, ducks, deer, and bird flocks seem to be unconcerned. Maybe while she sat in the edge of the woods for over a year getting putt putted around a parking lot once a month, she communed with nature. Who am I to say not? I know Grape loves bugs for supper. Boy am I overdue to get out the loud one. Fix that tomorrow.

Come up to Ohio. We could use a thinning of those flying rats...mmm, I mean geese. Would love to see them all laying still on the yellow stripes.

Honk honk (thats the geese, until they get flattened). Bandook is that another GTA reference? I remember in 4 you gotta hunt down like a hundred flying rats which are pigeons in that. If I see any more I'll be sure to goose it ha ha.

The freaks were out, in traffic today. But my better luck engine was purring right along as I dash cammed it all. Except for one before I turned it back on after burger window wait. That was a black Yaris with a Manhattan cab driver at the wheel. Craziness for a future compilation possibly.

Once again, its looking like a GP-work-heavy weekend. Weather gave me the urge to hit the u-pull-it and I didn't resist. Glad of it! Here, lemme show ya:

Fourteen GPs currently. I'm tellin ya we got plenty here. Was wanting to get the little grey thing with the red light in it on top of the dash, my GT's "cells", the one for A/C and one for headlights, are both bad. So, pocket screwdriver only when I went in. But once I hit the counter and gave my dolar, I knew I'd be there awhile, if I got lucky.

The junk queen handed me this list after I said me want hood:

Off I went. Booba, every time I go I chack to see if this one grew rails yet. Nope.

There was one Riviera. I spotted carbed junk so had to snap pic. Boys, thats a lame-o Oldsmobile Omega sedan from around 1979. Last of the actual Oldsmobile engines. This is probably a lowly 260 incher. See that bent pipe from water pump to intake? Thats an Olds.

zzzzzzzzzz.... OH! Had to wake up from the smoggy Oldsmobubble-induced snooze. On to the relevant goody part-

HEY! Looka dat- whadya know. I can use that. All them thats. Most, anyway. I passed on that hood, but snatched the bumper cover and absorber immediately, shucked the headlight mount panels and nabbed a right fender splash shield. Oh yeah and the dash dilly bobber. The fender is 80% loose too, but I wasn't equipped to deal with that pesky molding retainer rivet at rocker so I left it. Bet it will be there later, $40 and nicer than either of mine.

The car wasn't from around here-

And there was a perfect TS nearby, one with that strangely gold tint, hmm. I left it lay, but there was another good chromy too. Could have walked out with a set of 4 silver painted 5 spokes from here n there also.

So... turns out it was handy not having a passenger seat, Again!

Now watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat for a hunnert bux-

For those of you who have front bumpers looking funky where they face the sky:

All hope is not lost. This is an example of simple dirt appearing to be disappearing clearcoat, yours might just be dirty, too.

Heres what I dragged home from the junkyard, pretty sad but I figured I could spot paint the top areas...

So I washed it off with soap and water-

Not very promising. I went straight for the 3M super duty compound and white master pro wool pad on a DrillMaster rotary polisher-

Hmm. Thats not clean enough to polish, the pad got nasty fast. Clay? Man it dragged the clay, yellow-green tree funk, baked on. Slid that around a little, got out the rubbing alcohol (no help), scrubbed more with the mitt. Spurred the pad and went again, slower and wetter with compound. It came up to a shine when the funk peeled off. Not super glossy mind you but I came behind that with the Meguiar's #82 on the black 3M foam pad and worked at it. did this spot with black wax and got this picx for you guys. I ain't hardly believing it, this is why I love junk. I'll take it further later then slap it on.

You can still see some haze to the left with the flash. its tough funk!

This is all I could get by hand at the grilles. More time for machine polishing tomorrow. That should fire up the neigh dogs.

I gotta get my Grape spin in before quiet hours lol. I did install the JY headlight mounts in the GTP before callin it a day. Never have they fit so right and tight. Kinda fiending to see what thats like too, I think I got em adjusted OK but driveway is slanted.

Thank you sir Blue. I thought for a little while maybe it was a peeling repaint. But now I'm thinking original paint. Seems to have the properties of GM clear and the car was just a weathered cream puff. Should go well with the rest of the GTP which has a torn in one spot cover now. GT has a chunk or two missing. Theres another factory label inside the end but I know its an OE cover because this:

Thanks for checking, I swear I'll never get a set, lol. That was some good work! Talking about some restoration.

Thanks gents! In my book, that kinda thing falls under detailing rather than restoration but yeah, it blew me away when the paint surface was revealed and there was no clearcoat edge showing up. Still looks like no mirage in broad daylight today. I was gonna fog DC clear on it and polish the transition but this is bonus.

I just gotta wonder today, how many of you are out rubbing on the dull spots below your headlights. I'll approach alternate methods of removing that crud, theres got to be a better way to get to the shiny clear. The buffer cooks it even more. Maybe thats the key, the heat. Go slow if you use compound on yours, I have a rear bumper that actually has had the clear buffed away. Well at least I think I do. Thinking I just got lucky on this bumper, but theres a lot of work left on it.

Right now I'm off to replace passenger airbag and SIR brain in the GTP. That will leave driver's bag plus clock spring if the wiring is burnt from deployment. Taking parts off the 99GT for the 99GTP, so the GT can be liability car and GTP can be full coverage. THEN maybe I'll be working towards 02 135K L67 in the 178K GT with a dune buggy computer tune in the future. I'd love to wire one like a hot rod. The GTP is juuust about to hit 220K and getting better all the time. Supposedly the original owners "rebuilt the engine at 100,000." on that one. I can't say they didn't but... define rebuild lol.

Changed the dash airbag and dash. Already had the cover off the 40th up there awhile. The 02 dash pad is nearly perfect and I clean clean cleaned it. Also paused to clean the HUD lens n mirror from the 02 and swap it, plus took the instrument lens off and helped it out some too. Those HL mount panels I put in last night had one huntin sqirrels and the other diggin ditches so I took a few to try and correct that too. Then dark. But I did take pics and can make a dash how-to later. I'm glad to have the job behind me, but it was easy this time. Enjoyable, even. Took my time and enjoyed the back yard.
