What a crap job that had to be! It was just a damn shame when the vehicle went from transportation device to device transportation ... smh. I want junk to drive that only needs a half dozen fuses, these W-bodies are fairly ridiculous in that respect. I reckon they all are now. Can you tell I've been over here again...

Just flammable wire insulation lol. Thats a good question. If they did I bet there was glass involved. Maybe they use old screw in fuses like houses had in the day. Prolly called em circuit breakers. Maybe just fusible links instead. I'll peek at the 39 Plymouth.
 
Did some asking on that, Bill. From what I could gather, it seems the ancient ones had a buss glass type fuse incorporated in the powered component (like at HL switch) before a central fuse box came into play. Not a bad idea to conserve wire but very limiting on system complexity. Usually when a 6 volter needs help it gets converted to a modern arrangement for safety and the old stuff is tossed.
 
i like the 6v systems they dont hurt when you cross a few wires lol. but also a 12v system dont hurt to badly *twitching*. also the 6v systems use fuses some times inline and some times on a fixed point ie headlight switch. Its a really simple system you have power going in and the body is the ground.
 


Coworker says he has a 47 Willys that has glass fuses. Never have messed with neg ground systems, electrons aren't my strong suit. I'd just like to have a hotrod so simple 6 ATC fuses would do it. I saw a Turnkey engine controller for LSes and it was tiny so I checked to see if they make an L67 box. Nope. EcoTec yes lol.
 
I love it when I go from car to house on electrical with someone who is learning. They look at the black in a house and say.. "GROUND", I look at them and explain that black is no fun when things are live in a house. No... not ground lol
 
Aw in reality I may have forgotten more about electronics than some folks will aspire to. I've had basic training on auto stuff and could wire a car in a pinch but never messed with house or sprinklers. Theres SO many people out there who DO know all about electronics that I didn't figure it was worth trying to compete in that field or even to understand the stuff I don't personally use.
 
As part of living, I tend to soak up knowledge like a sponge. I won't necessarily go looking for something to just do it, but if I run into a problem etc I'm all over it.

To me nothing is really rocket science and the biggest thing to learn is when you might not be the right guy to do a job. Plumbing, electrical (house or car), fix an arcade game or pinball, tiling, drywall, woodworking, engines etc etc.. honestly most of the things people pay to have done is done by a guy that took the time to soak up that skill.

Sprinklers.. I haven't looked into the electronics of it as it seems straightforward to me. There's a control box, planned out zones, a central box with solenoids in it to open and close for the supply of water. As for fixing it.. I've worked on the heads and various things, but when I cut a line digging a trench, I reached out to good ole Scotty who had fixed up a few in the past. $2 and 10 min.. way easier than that first "oh chit" feeling of seeing water gave me the impression.

Was gonna do some FWD GP rear hub replacing today but the hub did not want to seperate from the knuckle. Whats the GPF way? Tried putting the wheel back on and letting the jack down some, no help.
 
Bfh on the hub hitting away from the car, or air hammering the bearing at the base where it connects to the knuckle as if to spin the base of the hub assembly.


Some get stuck on good, steel and aluminum don't like to leave each other alone. The hardest bearings to get out have been on 02 and newer dodge rams. Same thing, steel/aluminum. We had to get some gas pipe, put it between the frame and the hub, start it and using the power steering to get it loose. Even still it might not work, so my boss used the air hammer on it while I'm going full bore with the steering. After multiple attempts we have always gotten them off. Once we broke a knuckle in the process, that's how good they lock on there.

Nifty. Sounds noisy like I better tackle it at the shop, not at home.

What I'm trying to do is put a new one on the GTP so I can use the existing one on my GT. Should I forget that in light of the beating its likely to take during removal? I could just put the new one on the GT, theres no issue on the GTP as-is.

Yes two GP's now. Supercharged black 06. Haven't had any time to wash it yet, much less take pictures. Still driving my 02 till I plate the 06. I like it a lot though
 


Coolio, I'll keep my eyes peeled for that.

Replaced that noisy RR GT hub today, it was a snap. Drove it some more, jacked it up to check fronts. Both are loose but not bad noisy. They are MasterPros with like 50K on em and wrecked so no wonder. LR still seems OK, it was the last wheel to hop that curb too lol. Not too sure about that rack either but time will tell. Meanwhile, its a backup with a coolant leak. I ought to set the 02 L67 in it, reckon I just need a 99 GTP PCM for that.
 
Matt..hardest part of doing a rear hub on your car should be getting the two 8mm bolts that hold the ebrake bracket to the backing plate/hub off. Usually I grind them flat (no head left to grab) and replace with new hardware. Those two little bastiges will mess with ya.
 
Swing and a miss, they are T30s. Came right out n went right back. The GTP's RR hub is stuck on pretty good. Either of my 99s might be minty cream puffs by rust belt standards, but its the GTP that hassles me when I work on it. Still running around with a #6 screw in my GTP throttle body. Having a rash of wheel bearing failures currently, the old 02 front hubs are on the GTP and the one that hit the ground hard when they uprighted that car via hook on control arm... is finally making noise. Other side, the ABS ring falls off when you take it outta the hub. But its still going with like 155K on it.

Hey I've been using my Audi creeper lately, a Beetle fender box lol. Says all them Deutchbrands on it. Working flares and air dam on the TA job, bout 11 hrs worth today and covered in fiberglass itching powder. Wheel bearings ahoy I reckon, once I have wherewithall, inclination, and opportunity simultaneously.
 
I remember they were small and usually up here.. you can't tell what it used to be. I've seen guys swinging for hours, never realizing there were two stupid little bolts in there.
