trans does not throw any service engine soon light, trans codes are stored in PCM... a cheap ass autozone scanner will not read codes. ALOT of mechanics dont have scanners capable of reading trans codes. scanner HAS to be able to read PCM itself.

Actually, most generic code readers can and will be able to read transmission codes, even ones that don't trigger the CEL (like code P1811).
 


weird... i went to 4 different places trying to get codes read and they said they couldnt do it... my buddys dad has a really nice matco scanner... it scanned it.
 
I know for a fact that the Actron scanners Auto Zone uses and sells can pull those codes. Some others brands may not... Maybe the guys were just being lazy and didn't want to go outside to read the codes?
