Iirc josh (iceman) said you can stuff rope down the hole to keep the valves up like a nylon rope

Yup thats truth. I did that for the one cyl I couldnt get the compression fitting in last time did it. Ill just use air though

Thats not the tough part though. Its the spring compressor, but I've whined about that enough for one message forum.

i laid a rag over the star wheel. next step is to weld a nut in place of the star wheel and use a ratchet on it.

Pontiac lost its niche in GM imo. All they had going for them was their styling, then they screwed that up once 2004 came rolling around when all the pontiacs looked almost identical to the Chevy equivalent.

We have an 02 saturn sc1 and that Damn car is the most reliable thing ever well over 200k and still gets 40mpg oh and it still has the original clutch

I love my sl2. You have the twin cam engine?

I feel like a freakin race car driver in it. Especially with the worn motor mount that makes the car vibrate and sound extra loud.

I think its the 1.9 single cam. I could be wrong but I haven't had to do to much to it

I stuffed some nylon flat rope in through the spark plug hole, then turned the engine over by hand until it wouldn't turn anymore (don't be stupid and push too hard), then changed the springs. It was easy peasy. Let me know if you have any questions on it, but it really is as easy as it sounds.

Ive done it before.

32 times to be exact. Its just the spring compressor that pisses me off.

You don't need air or rope if roll the engine over manually with plugs out and bring each piston to TDC.

It figures. All day yesterday I was talking the saturn up.

Today it spins a rod bearing.

Just my luck.
