i have a 99 gtp...today i was driving and noticed that the car started to jerk...it seemed like when i stopped and then accelerated it felt like it was stalling but then once it got going it went away and would happen every stop and go...the servece engine light came one when i parked it and smoke came out from under the hood...i went out an hour later and started it up abd left it idle,,tons of white smoke came from the exaust pipes....any one have any ideas what happend...only mode of transportation? help would be greatly appreciated

just reading your post seems like the engine overheated and may have done damage to the heads or just the head gaskets. i know these cars are known for the lower intake manifold gaskets failing and making coolant go into the cylinders and burnt out the exaust. what did the service engine soon code turn out to be? did you notice if the temp guage was high? or low coolant light come on?

My oil looked like mustard when i changed it after doing my lim gaskets, i dont think thats a good thinG. Lol. Its all good now tho.

When we blew the "Cash for Clunkers" up at work they billowed white smoke. Check your oil. Don't goto a shop saying "I need new LIM gasket." You'll pay out the anus and it might not even be that... Working at a shop, I HATE HATE HATE people that come in and tell me, a technician, what's wrong... They'll charge you for that and whatever else might be wrong.

Start with the basics and work from there. Check your fluid levels...

The only time you should be telling people whats wrong is if you're just buying parts. :D

I would think suggesting checking a part you THINK is gone wouldn't be above and beyond acceptable correct?
