JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

damn that sucks. clean it all up with brake cleaner. snout side, and the gears. with any luck the bearings are not blown out.

how did the coupler look? was it tight still? or the holes all egged out?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

holes are fine. its still making noise, but not as much nose. I fiddled with the snout pulley and it wasn't budging in any direction.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Now that you posted that, I remember checking that **** when you were up here and you had ZERO play in your coupler.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Ya there coupler looked normal. but still replaced it. I have a spare Gen 3 i'd just sway out the mps hub, and my ported gen3 case. I still dont think it's 100% gone, but not 100% right... I'm kind of stuck.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Decided I'm just gonna use a blower that came off a bonneville. I will throw in my new coupler in it and maybe try porting it if I'm feeling handy, since my gen 3 is already ported. I will wait a few weeks to tackle this. It sounds like my rotor packs or a bearing is gone, so might as well throw a different blower at it. Also will have to rent a pulley puller. Bleh

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Why not just swap the snout over instead of pulling the pulley? Worth a try at least, and saves the money of getting a pulley puller.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

his snout was bone dry, so all the bearings could be roached good. blower side, and the snout bearings.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

That's what I was thinking. And rotating the pully on this used one, everything sounds sound and quiet. Might as well just give it a little port, new oil/coupler, and swap my MPS onto it.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Idk how to find out, would rather not create more work by having to swap out the SC more than I need to. I can self port the outlet and make a wack at the inlet if i wanna. Wouldn't be a huge difference.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Keeping the existing snout with the new oil/coupler along with the mps, and throwing it on a bonneville gen3 I got. Spinning that SC pulley on it, it's super quiet so all sounds good. Going to degrease it tonight and take it apart to see how it looks. Then port the case and throw it on with my snout I have now. Got an extra bottle of SC oil, gasket maker sealant, two o-rings and a SC gasket. Should have it done this weekend. Hopefully this is the last time

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

I'm not going to toss anything. If all works out with the new case and old snout sure thing. Everything with the bonneville Sc, tb, ect is compatible with a Grand Prix correct?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Swapped out the bonneville rotor pack into my already ported cause, so kept that and my snout with new coupler. It sounds much quieter but idk, I'll give it a week or so before I check this off as okay.

Also, found some oil sitting here...I have no clue where it could've came from. All the surroundings looked dry. Any ideas?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

did you use thread sealant when you did your lim job? if not id dry that pool up, then take the bolt out, seal it and re torque it.

unless the sc is back on already, then your kinda stuck.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Yup I did. I'll see if I see any leaks on the ground cause this could be where my cars leaking oil from. If so I'll do that, plus im sure I'll be taking the sc off soon anyways. Whrre does the oil come from under the LIM exactly?
