tho your onstar has like 4 total days remaining until it is absolutely useless... so no loss there!

when the cell companies are no longer required to offer analog cell signals, all analog only onstar vehicles will no longer have onstar. though, technically, i think onstar switched off it's analog network on Jan 1, 2008, now that i think about it, but for regular analog service, feb 18th, companies are allowed to shut down service. --- if you have a home alarm system, make sure it's able to use hardline or digital radio/cell....
 
Well, if its useless, I might as well yank it all out. What does all that weigh? LOL. I might get a 50/50 balance yet, LOL.

I was initially thinking how in hades is a 2001 system analog, surely its digital. But then it dawns on me, that was 7 years ago.

even some of the digital/analog systems in 03-04 vehicles are dead too.


but yeah, you could probably just pick up a compass/temp mirror off ebay without the onstar and swap it out. --- should be similar to late 90's gm trucks.
 


I think there was an option for just the compass and temp. I'll check on it, but it wont hurt my feelings any if I hit the onstar button and get a busy signal or something.

You dont know her very well then. She could have OnStars turn-by-turn directions just to get down the street and she could very well still end up in the next state.

well depending on where she lives, that could happen. i mean, if you live on a state border, that woudlnt be hard to do.
 
Can you tell me how to wire this up? I bought a mirror today with only the compass and temp. I got power to the mirror, and it comes on, states the direction, and the temp states "OC". How do I get the temp to work, and how do I calibrate the compass? I have a 97.Any help is appreciated.
