• Failure to follow these rules may result in your threads being locked, deleted, or moved. Depending on the severity of your actions, or frequency of your actions, your user account could be suspended or banned. These rules are to help protect both buyer and seller.

    1. CONSOLIDATE all of your for sale items into ONE thread only. This means there will be NO making multiple sales threads for different items regardless if the parts are related or not.

    2. PRICE IS REQUIRED. We do not permit ads without an asking price for each item. "Best Offer" is not an allowable substitute for posting a price. You may ask for $1 but a price must be listed regardless. If a price is not listed with in the first 24 hours of making your sale thread IT WILL BE LOCKED or DELETED. Once a price is listed a bidding war is not permitted. If the seller gets an offer that meets his asking price, the seller should honor the asking price and sell for that amount.

    3. EBAY LINKS AND OTHER LINKS. We allow links to ebay ads, but you MUST have a buy-it-now price posted, or an asking price to stop the auction in your ad here (Not just in the link). If it is from another site or from here, do not use a link but post the full text instead with pictures if you have them listed. If a BIN price is not posted, then your thread will be DELETED.

    4. CITY / STATE are required info for each ad. Information must be posted in the first post of thread, NO EXCEPTIONS. Buyers and sellers reserve the rights to privately ask for full contact information on any purchase or sale. 24 hour notice will be given, if you do not comply your post will be DELETED.

    5. NO TWO PARTY SALES. This means no more "I'm selling for a friend" posts and will be deleted immediately with no notice. Seller assumes all responsibility of anything they post for sale.

    6. NO FEELER THREADS. You are either selling it or you aren’t selling it.

    7. POST COUNT AND/OR TIME LIMIT. We are requesting that you spend some time with us before you start a For Sale thread. A pre-determined minimum number of posts will be required or 1 year since creating the account + an intro thread (just so we know you aren’t the Prince of Africa). Any for sale thread posted out of the For Sale section to circumvent the rules will result in being deleted. Those who do meet the criteria and post outside the section will have their thread moved, constant violation of this will result in an infraction.

    8. NO BUMPING OR TT’ing YOUR THREAD MORE THAN ONCE IN 48 HOURS. Don’t worry your thread will still be a bold read until a user reads it and if people are really interested they will let you know. Post warning will be issued if in violation and on the 3rd warning, the thread will just be locked.

    9. NO THREAD DUMPING OR I DON’T LIKE YOUR PRICE. Don’t post in a person’s thread just to tell them they are too high, either move along and say nothing or throw an offer to them. The person can sell it at whatever price they think someone is willing to pay. Offenders will be issued a warning, if it is a constant issue then an infraction will be issued.

    10. KEEP YOUR THREAD UP TO DATE. This is really for your benefit, so you don’t get 10 PMs asking if you still have it when you already sold it.

    11. NO WEAPONS. As Admins we have determined that no weapons will be allowed to be sold, this includes knives, guns and anything else deemed a weapon (even if its a wall hanger only). We ask that if you want to sell these items you seek out the appropriate websites elsewhere to do so.

    12. Pictures are REQUIRED. Pictures of all items for sale. This is to help BOTH seller and buyer. As a seller it is MUCH easier to sell something if you have pictures of it. As a buyer you feel better seeing exactly what you are buying. Pictures should contain the item/s for sale and a sign of some kind that has your username on it. 24 hour notice will be given, if you do not comply your post will be DELETED.

FRAUD & RISK. Buy and Sell at your own risk. Grand Prix Forums and its staff are not responsible if someone rips you off or doesn't send parts out in a timely manner. This classifieds section is a free service for the community, and it is YOUR responsibility to handle all transactions in a low-risk method. DO NOT contact us if there is a dispute between you and someone else, we are NOT INVOLVED. You can help minimize fraud risk by doing these suggestions:

Pay using PAYPAL, using a credit card. This way, if a part does not arrive, you can do a charge back through your credit card company. If you gift it, then you have no recourse to get your money back when things fall through. Pay the 3% and have the buyer protection. Using someone else's paypal and gifting to pay for goods is violating Paypal's Terms of Service.

Always ask for full name, residential address, phone numbers of both buyers and sellers. An honest seller should have no problem disclosing this info to you privately.

Shipping things C.O.D. is risky. Try to use UPS or Fedex, so that you can track shipments. Have someone sign for it if it is expensive.

Ask for references from other members, hopefully from other members who have been registered for longer than one year and are active here.

Use your gut feeling. If something seems too good to be true, or a seller/buyer seems a little shady, don't take the risk.

    TIPS:
-Post pictures: with mobile phones these days and auto uploads, it’s not even really hard anymore. Have it automatically drop in Photobucket, grab the Img tag link and paste it in.

-Give good contact information if you aren’t going to be on here a lot.

-If you are going to disappear for an extended time (vacation, time in jail, what have you), then give us a quick note that you aren’t going to be around. People will trust you a little more.

-Look around and gauge your price with other items. Just cause you bought it for $1000, doesn’t mean it’s now worth $1,200 or even the original $1,000. You are free to ask what ever you want, but an item that is priced right will sell quicker.
  • The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I would have honestly said in the ad that it would have been a no where near perfect junkyard part.

This is one of those, crappy situations for the buyer really.

Should have given more pictures and info from the get go.

If it's not a self service junkyard, then I would have texted a picture of both sides of the mirror, or at least said it looked beat up from the inside and see if the buyer (Boo) still wanted it.

If this was me, I'd refund the guy minus the shipping you ate out of pocket, really. That mirror looks like total ass.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

Mind posting a picture of the other side of the mirror Ryan.

I don't mind rectifying the situation the best that I can but I also don't like the whole ruining my reputation thing I went out of my way to go grab the mirror for you because I seen that you were looking for one and happened to spot one in good condition (especially for a 10+ year old car), I've done this numerous times for guys when I see something in the yard that they are looking for I contact them and get a price from the yard. Those guys are well aware that it's not a part that I personally own but it's a part that at the time is available at the yard.. Now if they give me the go ahead I usually go ahead and grab it for them with my own cash and then notifying them and get the cash I paid sent to me.. Now I stopped doing this because I ended up with crap that I can't use and out of my own money. I ask for nothing.. I spend my time and my gas to go out there and get it and it return I ask for nothing..

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I see the back picture I'm talking about a picture from the front unless it's not showing for me

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

USPS tends to have a $50 or $100 insurance policy on it automatically, give them a call.

[ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

It was shipped priority so there's at least $50 covered on it.. I don't remember how much I insured it for without the receipt handy but there's a least some coverage.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

Then I would definitely contact them, it is clear that it was mishandled in shipping because they broke the top piece and probably the rest of it.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I hope you guys aren't saying I need to go to UPS, because as soon as I show them how it was packed (they want to know), they'll laugh in my face.

Look, I used to junkyard for people all the time. Its a pain the butt, but people appreciate it. So I had no problem paying $90 for this mirror because I know the work of taking a million things apart to get to one thing. In this case, the yard price might have been higher since it was already off, but he still had to go get it and box it up. I had said in my original want ad, that it was for a 30k mile car. All original and immaculate. I have sold actually, come to think of it, literally hundreds of car parts online and through forums (I know I'm not active here, but I'm not a newb to car boards). I wouldn't have shipped this part to anyone, even for a beater as a safety replacement. And you had the ability, like blueguy said to take pics right at the JY, and say, hey, this isn't exactly 30k mile car stuff, but are you ok with the previous damage repair?

All that aside, its completely unusable, for any car due to the damage it has now. So yeah, if you want to try UPS, go for it, but otherwise I consider this to be a seller matter, given the packaging. I was really trying to be nice and just put a little more pressure on to try to be amicable. I wouldn't even have made this thread if you had responded to my texts. I have no interest in stirring the pot or ruining reputation. Just want what I paid for.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

It wasn't broken when I packaged it and shipped it.. I wouldn't have sent something like that so if it was broken or mishandled during the delivery transaction then that's a separate matter from this.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

Ok, let me just ask some questions then:

The part was damaged/repaired when you picked it up. Why did you not tell me?

Its weakened state was a contributor to the failure, and who wants to pay $90 for glued together broken stuff? (yes I consider it to be broken - glued is not a fix for a part that is both structural and cosmetic)

Do you think that packaging was appropriate? (you could shake it around the box, it was no restrained, nor cushioned other than a layer of bubble wrap on the flat surfaces)

Why did you not respond to me when I said it was never received and also again no response when I said it was damaged?

Again, let me repeat since apparently I wasn't clear. The part was not as described. The part is what I and most reasonable people would think was broken upon shipment. The shipment, which was not packaged correctly merely brought the problem to the forefront. Additional problems included late shipment and no response to issues until taking this step publically.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I'm going to guess that glue...is what GM used to hold the foam on and make water tight. So when it shipped it was all in one piece and in good shape, then USPS roughed up the packaged and that is how it ended up looking like that.

I don't think Red tried to mislead you at all, I seriously think the mirror was in good shape when it was shipped, this really is a case of USPS mishandling the package horribly.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

Did you not see the picture I posted a few pages ago of what the part was picked up? That's exactly how I picked it up. Now Idk if you didn't receive the txt but I didn't hear from you after that. The only time I heard from you after that is when you opened the dispute for item not received which of course I sent the tracking # now between the time that I sent you that picture of when I had it picked it, had you responded in anyway that you no longer wanted it I could of went back to the yard and resolved the matter but now I have no mirror to go back and say hey.. Let me exchange it or refund me back etc etc and I couldn't just do that on my word alone. The packaging was good.. I didn't just say F it and throw it in there.. I wrapped it, and no it wasn't just a single layer, and the box was just big enough where the mirror shouldn't have moved much if at all unless the package was being mishandled carelessly. Like I said earlier I have no problem working with you to fix the issue but apparently the dispute is already open so I'll let PayPal handle it from.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

RED will have to call UPS or USPS (whoever it was), they will come to you, Boo and they will take it from you to investigate, that is usually how it goes. From there it is all in their court.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I received no picture showing that damage. I received the picture you screen shotted in this thread, which looked like an A OK mirror on my phone. I am willing to work with UPS if they want to come take it. I still think the proper thing to do would be to refund my money, and if UPS agrees with you, then you will be reimbursed.

Here is what I sent, before I contacted paypal.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

AGAIN. I'm going to bet it wasn't damaged and that glue wasn't used to put it back together....that looks like factory glue to water seal and put the foam on. It was squashed by UPS or USPS and it caused the damage. These things happen, it is why there was insurance. I don't think RED tried to trick you or commit "fraud". Why would he want to go through all of this by sending a broken item?

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

On mar 27, you opened this dispute, so you couldn't even give me a day to respond back to your text? I'm not attached to my phone 24-7 I have a life and i'm constantly busy with work/school etc I'm not always able to text back right away. Like I said before I don't mind working with you to resolve this issue but making it seem like I intentionally did this is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. I know how I shipped the item and I wouldn't have wasted my time sending something like that to go through this ordeal. Of course the delays in shipping was my fault and I accept that. It wasn't just a simple item I can throw in a priority box and ship it right then and then it took time to find a box I could use without it being some obnoxious overkill box.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

There is glue in the breaks, you can see it in one of the cracks in the picture. Meaning its not from the foam. And I rarely use this card, but I work for an OEM and see cars being built all the time. They don't apply glue like (or that type) that on the line (supplier or assembly). Way too much risk for it getting on the painted surfaces.

Look, I'm not saying that he deliberately tried to fraud me. I'm saying that he made a few mistakes that led to me receiving an unusable part. I know UPS can be rough. That's why I package things very well. If it got to me whole I would have shrugged it off as a lesson learned, get better pics 360 degrees, and I'd look for yet another mirror. That's how reasonable I would normally be. But damaged/repaired/late/no replies/bad packaging/broken/totally unusable is too much, even for me.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

Response to #36:

After receiving no reply ever after a month from the last time I texted, honestly, I had lost faith to wait more than a day. And yeah, from 11:42AM on the 26th, to the following day over 24 hours later, yeah, I expect the modern person to look at their phone once.

And I never got a response from the 26th until today (and only after posting this) so obviously even the paypal action didn't help. It took texting, paypal AND this to finally hear back from you. You're trying to make me sound unreasonable but I don't see it.

[ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

If you open a dispute I have what a few days to respond back to PayPal and we"re still within those days correct...exactly... So at that point we handle the dispute through PayPal not through any other way.

Re: [ISSUE with Seller] redcompg

I would like to chime in here for a minute. I used to work at UPS, and this would not surprise me if they did that. I have seen them take obliterated boxes, repackage them, and send them on through. At the table that they repack they have other "handy" utilities such as adhesives. I'm not saying saying they glued it, as it does look old, but that packaging job looks terrible. From my standpoint I see UPS or whoever destroyed the box, repackaged it carelessly (because honestly they could give two ****s), and pushed it through. That is just my $0.02 and I am defending no one.
