Is my tranny going??

Hello,

About 2 weeks ago I was leaving work and my car was acting really funny high rpms and wasn't going much when I pushed on the gas. I pulled over and found that all my tranny fluid was coming out. Got both hoses replaced and not leaking anymore but now my car has been acting weird.

Sometimes from stop to go ill push the gas and it wont go for a few seconds then go like this morning and chirped the tires a bit because I was pushing on the gas and no movement. It also makes a weird noise when im accelerating now and especially around corners I will accelerate on the gas and the rpms will go up 1k or so but the car wont want to accel then it will go.

I am not sure if my tranny is going or if this could be another problem? Any help would be appreciated I have a long commute to work 45 min there and 45 min home so if my tranny is going I dont know what im going to do:th_laugh-lol2:. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help diagnose this problem.

*also*
are there any tests I can do myself to see if there are problems that can be fixed?

Is there anyway to stop it from slipping? I want to be able to drive this car through the winter if that would be possible?

sounds like to me that you are low on fluid and your automatic clutches arnt kicking in IE ur tires chirping until its build up pressure. im no transmission guy i just know that from when i was 45 miles from home and my girlfriends tranny decided to go out and i got to drive it home with only the two upper gears. long story short the tranny got a new seal and some fluid and its been running like a champ ever since but we got lucky. someone should be able to tell you for sure but id make damn sure that your full of fluid since u had that trouble and then just baby it till you know your good to go. best of luck

does sound like the fluid is low, u have to check it with the car running for a few minutes idleing in park. should pull the dip stick and immedietly look at the leve. or as some people do, wipe then reinsert, then pull and check for fluid level. it sounds as if it is low or the actual pump is weak, going bad. let us know

I just poured a whole bottle of tranny fuid in and am having a hard time reading the level. One side will have nothing or hardly any fluid on it and the other side will have it marked up pretty high. I went through all of the gears for a few seconds in each gear (P, N, R, D, 3, 2, 1) and then checked the level again and it was very low. Wiped & retried a few more times and was getting different readings i'm not sure if i am puting the stick in wrong or what?

I am thinking though if I poured a whole quart bottle in and it wasn't overflowing I probably am low on the fluid? How much should I keep putting in there until I know it's full because would going through the gears cause the fluid to move throughout the vehicle and thus cause me to have to put more in until its all worked in?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated because maybe this is all that is wrong that I am just low on fluid? I don't notice any fluid leaking out either I watch under where I parked whenever I move the vehicle.

mine was the same way and i was having a hell of a time reading it as well. you may consider taking it to a shop and just have them drop the pan. its good for maintenance, cant really hurt anything, and that way if you take it to a good shop you know its full enough. it solved my problems. I'd do that and then go from there. just my thoughts

u have to park it on a flat surface, and make sure the trans is up to temp, with the car running go through 1-2-3-D-N-R-P let it sit for a min then check it. It takes a few times to get an accurate reading. Every time you add, repeat steps listed and let it sit, works well for me.

Well I picked up a gallon of tranny fluid yesterday and put a good ammount of it in and finally got a accurate reading and my car is running like a champ now :D.
