Is it worth the time and money?....

what aftermarket supercharger??? your not really gonna find any....
I really havent looked at this point, heard of a few companies out there that make them, otherwise possibly a turbo also down the road haha, for low and top end power, by the way, kind of off topid, but is it possible to get rid of the speed limiter without shutting anything else off? You never know when your gonna be in a rush:D

you can turn the limiter off in the tune.

there is not much of a aftermarket for supercharges for these cars. nothing wrong with the stock ones.

K, noob question then, whats the real difference between my SE and a GT of the same model year? Headaches are all part of the fun I think.

Well I would replace the body kit, but not with a complete ricer one, I would get one pretty close to stock, the dual exhaust can be run on these, plus I would eventually get a full system, and mine has a 3.8 liter series 2.

the 97 SE and GT have the 4t60e. it is a junky vacuum controlled transmission. the 97 GTP and all of them 98+ have the 4t65e, which is a much better transmission to start with. swapping a 98+ setup into a 97 is a pain in the ass to say the least.

you really should look into getting a nicer grand prix first before you try and dump money into it. when you start with a GT or GTP you wont have to replace the bumpers and side skirts since they stock ones look good already.

Well, I'm looking for a project car, that I can keep til I'm old even, but still will look awesome going down the road, something that I can always find something to improve on, plus, "I always can try to find a way to fit a chevy 350 small block in it with a six speed and make it rear wheel drive" :P

97 se is not a good project car like the other guys said, start with a 98+ gt or gtp
If u are really serious about modding these type of cars.

I know that most of the older grand prix 97 SE are 3.1 thats weird that it comes with a 3.8 series II Nice well if you are gonna put a supercharger put in a whipple i heard they are amazing!!! and more efficient than the ones that come stock in this cars.

I dont want a gtp, being 17 the insurance would kill me, besides, I want an aftermarket supercharger, only heard of problems with the stockers. The car isnt beat to ****, the miles were all put on by a friend of my families, shes older and drove around 20 miles to work on the highway each way, and I'm easy on the car. I found a body kit that completely replaced both bumper and rocker panels, it wasnt much lower hanging that stock either and it looked really bad ass, so the car still could be lowered. Its not like I cant save to afford a few parts at a time, plus I have another car to drive if this ones out of commission for awhile. Might do a complete rebuild(my dads a mechanic), just to help with my confidence in a 150k miles car.

So get a GT and Top Swap it. Your new so I'll tell you...READ. Being 17 I know where your at...save your money...don't blow it on a POS SE. I don't care how good of shape it is in...it is still going to be an SE. Also, ANY body kits for these cars are UGLY...but if you'd like to discuss...please post a picture of the kit your talking about. Only thing on these cars that look good are aftermarket hoods, spoilers, lowering springs, nice set of wheels, and roof rails or an SD Front Air Dam...THATS IT.

Oh...and LOL at the supercharger comment. What you going to buy...a Whipple?:th_laugh-lol3:

what aftermarket supercharger??? your not really gonna find any....

$4,000+ Whipple Swap boi:th_winking:

Or if you wanna go old school...find someone with a NOVI 2000 setup...thats where its at.

turbo - for low and top end power

Come again?

Hey guy...nice wording. Not to mention the '97's PCM, different throttle body, supercharger, etc.

What is so odd about it...the SE had the 3800 option...just like your car has the option for cloth or leather...same concept. Yeah...tell him to put a Whipple on it...he just got the car and your telling him to attempt hands down the most difficult and time/wallet consuming supercharger setup on a 3800.
