Is it possible to drive a car that I like?

I am ****ing sick of this POS GP GT, tranny has P1811, the MAF is failing every other month. I feel like an SE 3.1 could overtake me. I've had the car since May and it is in a whole other state of affairs since when I got it. I shift-kited the tranny and that kinda helped but now I am stalling in the middle of downtown at 11pm on a sat night, what kind of **** is this?

And I didn't buy this off a one-eyed hick in the country which bad teeth and a stained T-shirt, I got it off a first-owner from a wealthy neighbourhood, garage maintained and underdriven for the year.

Now the Accord counterpart to my GP, single owner, 15000km a year mileage, very clean body would be running like a god damn champion, maybe the wiper blades would wear out and need replacement.

But of course Accords and Camrys are boring piles of gayness, and too expensive on the used market.

GM does not deserve my love...but it has it anyway.

Sorry for the rant, needed to vent this out.

Re: Is it possible to drive a reliable car that isn't gay?

Funny. One of the causes tranny man lists for this code:
-Dirty MAF sensor resulting in lower commanded line pressure

I wish. No, i've had this stuff thorough looked at, unfortunately i'm shafted by 2 drivability problems. Does this crap get any better with the 04-08s?

Sounds like whoever you have working on your car doesn't know what they're doing.

I bet if you unplugged the MAF the car would run better.

Or get a working one from Morad and not your local autoparts store junk MAF's.

The tb/maf setup has changed over the years, what year is your car and has the tb been changed?

Yeah, just as reliable.

Are the parts a lot more expensive or are they abou the same as 97-03?

So which model year of the last gen is known to be particularily good? 2004s are pretty cheap around my local area but I just assume they have more issues than an 06.

04 and 05 have different sway/lca setup from every other wbody. can be swapped to 97-03/06-08 setup for aftermarket parts. all 04's and half the 05's have the same crappy lim gasket that 97-03's have. All 06+ have aluminum. Parts cost about the same. If you want something you never have to touch when you get it, go for an 06.

Thanks man, i'm saving up already.

Been looking around here on CL... looks like some CL haunting +$6k will get you a CompG.

I might look at financing one from GM Optimum Used. They have low clicks and come with some warranty.

GM Optimum 2006 GP GT
Fully loaded, 75000km
$10,800

Almost seems like the 04+ or at least 06+ don't have as many problems are the older ones. better tranny internals, alum LIM, stuff like that solved most of the older problems.

But then again, the oldest 04 is newer than the latest 03 so time will tell I guess.

Might be worthwhile if it was <30,000 miles. Definitely not worth $11k for 75k.
