Is it cheaper to rebuild or replace engine?

I would like to eventually mod the motor with different blower pulleys and so on, but i know that putting more stress on the components of an old engine is not a good idea. what is your advice on this subject?
 


The blocks themselves are good to go stock... inless your going for a record breaking build this up grading the bottom end isn't really needed. If you have poor bearings and such then for most it is cheaper to find a low mileage block from morad parts co.

But, it your case I'd just leave your block alone inless it is already broken.
 
If it isnt broke and doesnt show signs of wear dont touch it just mod and enjoy
I just did a complete build on mine including machined block new pistons and the whole 9 yards and it was around 1500 to keep it stock I modded cammed put heads on and such so i am at around 3000

Best bet is get a low mileage n/a block from morad
 
Nothing wrong with a good low mileage L67 or L36 block. They are the same thing when it comes to bottom end of things.

My suggestion though would be.......if it ain't broke don't fix it! LOL. Do the recommended maintenance of course. At your mileage I would change out the timing chain and dampener before doing any serious modding. A stock replacement should be just fine unless you're going to go cam while inside.
