Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Is gm stupid?

I think the only reason the volt can use gas is for longer trips, but if they used better battery tech like you said then they wouldnt need it. But still, not every place in the country has outlets for electric cars yet so you need a back up for a vacation trip or something.

well i totally disagree with the idea of electric cars. some if not most all of our electricity comes from coal and other unrenewable resources thus transferring our energy to another pollutant. so if they think they are helping the earth i don't see it.

and i just can't grasp the idea of an electric car. i couldn't deal with the lack of power on tap and reliability etc. no hp :(

maybe im wrong about some of it but i just totally disagree with a power source that is not combusting. maybe hydrogen is the better option :th_lightbulb:

The thing with electricity is that it has the possibility to come from renewable sources, whereas gasoline has zero chance to do that because it in itself is non-renewable. I agree that hydrogen is better, but it's far more expensive at this point, with an almost non-existent fueling infrastructure (thanks governator lol).

Also, lack of power with electric cars? You could very, VERY easily make a fast and reliable electric car. Example (and sorry for repeatedly using the same example, but there aren't many out there) is the Tesla Roadster. It'll do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, and it'll go like 250 miles on a single charge.

this is true. but im like true american at heart but very open-minded on issues. as far as hydrogen, its very do-able IF we could find a way to store it and transport it and make it our infrastructure. but they'd have to decide on it for sure to do it.

well hopefully if electric cars become our transportation they make performance ones just like we have now with gasoline. im still gonna miss what we have now.
i mean mechanics are gonna have to change their whole job set up and me, i wanna be a mech engineer but if the auto industry will have to be re-learned thats gonna be a prob.

Found a picture of the ZR1 + Aveo ad :D

If they actually gave the Tesla Roadster a good transmission it could be pretty decent at higher speeds. Also, I'd like to see a double-motor Tesla. Electric motors are so much more precise than gasoline engines it's far more reasonable to run them in tandem with each other. Imagine if you had an electric car with multiple electric motors, all of which could be operated independently and even shut off if you didn't need the performance. If the battery tech is there to back it up, the possibilities are endless.

However, with the advent of algae oil I'd say none of these next-gen fuel sources will completely replace the internal combustion engine. They'll just fill a different niche in the market.

P.S. Can we get some ****ing electrorheological transmissions up in here? For ****'s sake.

The mighty car czar said that some core brands had to be eliminated, so Pontiac got the axe because it "cannibalized" sales from Chevy. Saturn sales stunk because the enthusiasm for making the brand different from the other divisions lost out to "rebadgification", which was cheaper than a wholly different engineered animal. Yeah, it makes total sense to come out with baby high priced Buicks to compete with the Cruze. We just gotta learn to deal with the new smaller GM.....or not!

algae oil hmm. tell me more.

Why do you need a programmer? i bought my new fob off ebay and i didnt need to go to a dealer to program it for my car.

like i said some of the newer cars. gps arent the most sofisticated cars but there are some that know who you are when u press the unlock button and know what radio station and heat settings you like
