• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

IPhone and OBDII Scanner

Bluetooth should be solid..did you pair the device and use the code..usually 1234 is the pin...the Bluetooth will stay solid and when you plug adaptor in connection will blink and then remain solid once it connects to Bluetooth and ecm...to me sounds like your Bluetooth is not connected.

Well, I would say your right. I pair them and use the 1234 code and it pairs, there is 1 light that is always on (Red closest to the connector) and an amber that is farthest from the connector will come on for about 10 seconds then go out then you will see it come on and go out and if I watch the App under tools (I think) it says that the adapter 068Blahblah is connected and there is a green check, then it goes yellow then comes back and goes out in time with the LED.

So once it's connected, do you get live data? The car needs to be running to read the data...if it's connected you should see data and be able to scan dtc codes.

The cannot connect to ECU never goes away. The only thing that moves is the acceleration information. When I do try to connect to live data it says "Connect to ECU"

I am unfamiliar with Android, what are Booth settings?

So here is what happened at lunch, we went out to my friends car and we put it in his car, made sure it paired, then same thing happened. The unit seems to connect and in the Torque App it says it's connected then a few seconds later it says it's not. This happens about every 10 seconds. My friends car is an Acura TL. We went to lunch and while we were waiting he installed the app on his phone, the free version. We went out to the car I made sure I turned off the Bluetooth on my phone and we got in the car started it up, he paired it again and it ran. Perfect no issues. He has a Samsung phone and the phone I am using is a LG G2 I think.

Last night I had my friend jailbreak my old 4S and install the file on it, but it didn't' seem to even show an icon.

So this afternoon after work we are going to try the device on my car with his phone and see what happens.

Jeff

Edit: The bluetooth on my phone appears to be on, but the icon is grayed out, when pairing it shows connected, and when I go back into settings it still shows paired.

Sounds like something is up with your bluetooth..I'm not family with LG phones..I have that adaptor on my s4 and tablet and booth work perfectly..your s4 should work no problem when you get home.

What's an S4? Also how do you get around having to have location on? If I use my other phone (and it works) how do I get the Torque application to work without having the phone actually hooked up to a network. I didn't think the Note was capable of cellular communication.

Thanks,

Jeff

Samsung galaxy s4...I don't think it will work on an apple is device even if it's jailbroke...torque works no problem with out a WiFi or cell connection..just need bluetooth..my tablet does not have cell connection.

OK, I only have 2 Andriod phones and both are LG phones, one is my wife's old phone from a couple of years ago and this new one that I got from work the other day. The Jailbroken Iphone, I probably won't mess with it, but since I have 2 Android devices I hope to get at least one of them to function properly. It's about to storm here so I am going to pull the car in the shop and try my buddies Samsung phone.

What is t app? Is that all it's called?

Thanks, and please bear with me I am a moron when it comes to phones and computers (that's why I have an Iphone), but I'm a wiz with electronics and mechanics (my degree is in electronics so it's a little ironic that I don't deal with phones and computers). I promise I will contribute more.

Ok the Pro version is the one I bought.
Yeah the pro is the good one...remeber you can get the pro you paid for on any andriod device by logging into the play store with your Gmail account, then you can load it on your other devices without having to pay for it again..just in case you didn't know that.

Oh forgot to mention. We tried it in my car with my friends phone and it didn't work. The lights did the same thing they had done before. Just the red light and every once in a while the second light came on for a few seconds then off again.

Ok here is some more information:

we tried the OBD adapter with my friends Samsung phone on his 05' Acura TL we were able to get it to work fine.

I used my wife's old LG and was able to get it to connect, but wouldn't connect to the car. It went through a configuration where it looked as though it was testing different protocols then would say unable to connect to ECU and said it's either a cheap adapter or the ignition was off.

I went to my wife's 06' Mercury Montego and I was able to connect to the that car and watch data.

went out to my 97' Park Ave and got the same error as on my GP.

looks like the adapter doesn't like GM products.
