Intermittent no-start when key turned.

I'll explain this as simply as possible. This has been going on sporadically since I got the car. Not related to my LIM gasket job.

About 1 in 10 starts turning my key to start my car doesn't turn the engine over and the car fails to start. All I hear is a very faint "click", not like a solenoid, just something in the dash. The fuel pump runs in "ON", the battery has a full charge, runs beautifully once started and gets good gas mileage.

When this happens the engine just completely fails to even attempt to turn over, it doesn't "struggle" to turn over, because it simply doesn't turn over. The interior lights don't "dim", its like I get no response... When it finally does start it starts just like normal: turns over one to three times and roars to life.

I just need some advice on where to start inspecting. As it is I have no clue... Thanks in advance guys.

is the security light flashing? could be the chip/ resistor in the key.

one thing my car does is the Park lever sometimes doesnt seat 100% in part due to my boot i installed around it. pushing forward on it will allow it to start. more then 90% of the time things work fine. its just the <1% that i have to push the shifter to get it to start.

Mine did this so i cleaned all the grounds up and the battery and haven't had a problem is a long time.

Well Im having the same issue with my car. Did it once before and now it spun the motor like 2 times really slow as if the batter would be dead. But the battery isnt dead and now it doesnt turn at all. Any way I could test the solenoid or starter?

A co-worker just had the same issue on his car and we changed out the start solenoid, starter, ICM, and it ended up being the wires coming into the fuse box were loose that was causing the issue.
