intermittent Knocking sound 06gpgt

104's are to cold, if your stock just get new iridium. or 606 iirc copper cores is one range cooler and work well for stock.
 


Well the plan was to mod right away with this car. As I have headers, 1.9's, oer lifters and comp push rods ready to go in but then the knock happened.
 


Yeah it's internal. 60 psi oil. Pulled belts still there. F***ing dealer knew. He was pretty sure about there check on the car. Didn't do it there.
 


wtf is going on there? is the car all cooled off in the last vid? cant say ive ever heard a rod knock come and go.

cracked flex can sound like a rod knock too. its super hard to see if its cracked with out taking the engine or tranny out tho.
 
No more cooled than the knocking one. I gotta rev it up and down alot to get it to knock. Kinda like driving stopping then going.
 
id get a pipe or something to listen through, see if you tell if its coming more from the front or back valve cover, pull that cover off, then fire it up, oil may shoot all over, but you may be able to see if a rocker is being lazy, or if a spring is cracked/busted.

a bad lifter i could see pump up at idle and lose pressure and clap the rocker with rpm's. what was kinda odd was it stopped knocking with gas, then knocked when you let the throttle go. when you did drop the throttle it had the exact sound of a rod knock. that bouncing knock sound where it kinda doubles up in the vid.
