Hey guys recently I have been having this odd problem with the gtp. The thing is that when I accelerate at a steady pace (not wot) the rpms is steady the sort of loses power or falls a bit and then goes back to where it was at. At first I thought this happened because I was running out of gas but it still did it after a refill. I have no clue what this could be anybody have any idea? Also no it is not at shift points.

car has 110k kms on it always maintained well.

Is the CEL on? Have you cleaned the MAF? What plugs are you running in it? Always using 91+ octane gas? What year is your car?

My car is an 04. the CEL actually is on but has been for about a year. It was brought into the dealer last year i think and they said the CEL was just due to a sensor issue and the wanted 400 bucks just to disable it. I always run 91 actually but not sure if the previous owner did. As far as plugs go im not sure whats in there now all I know is that they have only been changed once maybe. The issue hasnt happened this past week but it definitely gave me a scare when it happened.

I would like to know what sensor they would "disable" and why it's OK to do so. Why not just fix it?

A bad knock sensor(s) may retard the timing when it doesn't have to. On the other hand it may not retard the timing when the motor is actually knocking, very bad.

Do what these guys say and get the car scanned before the motor fails. Better to spend a little cash now rather than a lot more later.
