Intermittant no start

Hi All, New to these forums, they look like they will be pretty helpful! I've had my '03 GT for almost 5 years now with very few problems other than normal maintenance items. It has recently starting having an intermittant no start problem though. Turn the key on, all lights come on etc like normal. Turn the key to start and it does not try to crank at all, the IC lights and radio cut out, but the instrument lights stay on and gauge lights come on acting as if it stalled (ie. parking brake light comes on, etc.) while the key is in the start position. Take it back to on and everything comes on again. Try start a few times and eventually it will start. It doesn't matter if it is cold or hot, has happened both ways. Kind of frustrating and I don't want to end up being stuck somewhere. I would appreciate any help or ideas.
 


I had a similar problem happen with a car I had in the past. It turned out to be a bad contact on the starter. Check to make sure the ground is good and the connections are tight and clean.
 
Thanks Silver GTP, checked the connections, they were clean, but I installed a new starter and that seems to have it fixed, I think the solenoid was intermittant. The starter had a million cranks on it (I use the car at work sometims - shut off and restarted ALOT).
