Interior lights replaced with LED's - WOW what a difference

I wanna see pics of those red lights BigBird
I thought about red for mine but went with blue after the white, lol

Theres a website called diode dynamics online that I ordered my leds from they have 3 different light options and the kit comes with every single led for interior lights. I ordered red and white so if there any good Ill order more. I did upgrade the trunk light with a kit from pepboys its a 6 led pannel and it came with all the adapters to plug into the stock harness.

I just ordered two of the "194 5-5050 SMD" one for the front and one for the back passenger side lights. I hope these will be much brighter than the OEM incandesents. I asked Sylvania what their 194 Bulbs are and they said 25 lumens. So hopefully that will help you guys notice the difference in lumens between stock 25 Lumens in 194 bulbs vs. the leds.

Has anyone replaced the Trunk Light for their 2004+ GP? I'm wondering what bulb or board should be used and how effective it is.

Led Change Does Make A Huge Diff. I Put Led Lights On My Hood A Few Months Back, But The Police Said It Was A Distraction To Other Drivers So I Had To Change Them.

Does anyone have any pics of an interior done in all red? I think it would match the gauges well but might be do much.

Hey, I know this is kinda late to add a reply...

But would anybody happen to know the voltage reading from the lights shining down to the pedals? That one light bulb on each side? My multimeter is out of commission right now :(

...Trying to add some LED's there. Probably some reds to match the dash lights. I already put blue in the door panel reflectors, and they look pretty sweet at night :)

Thanks in advance

All the stock bulbs should have running voltage or battery voltage. Unless you dim them then they will have less.

Well, finally got the bulbs in and replaced the Passenger Side Front/Rear Interior Lights with these bulbs in white. Definatly much brighter than the incandesents. I like them, but I'm kinda glad I have a bit dimmer Red LEDs on the Driver side from a different company, otherwise these would be soo bright that even if it was red, my night vision would still get screwed up. Very nice bulbs though, we shall see how they work over the long run.

I don't see how red lighting will mess up ur night eye adjustment unless your starring directly into the LED. white light is what screws it up.

also the trunk light should should be the same 194. I didn't use boards in my car, just 194's.

Its any light period.

You got the same model car I do I believe, the trunk light is like a larger incandesent bulb. It does look like the socket is similar to a 194 bulb though. I just wonder how well a 194 LED bulb will work in the hidden bulb window for the trunk.

I tried the 194 5-5050 SMD bulb that i already had for replacing the passenger side interior lights, and tested it on the trunk. Seems to work fine if the key was engaged in the ignition, but with no key in at all, there didn't seem to be enough power running to the bulb, so it didn't light up very much. Oh well, guess i'll just keep it incandesent.

Also, didn't fit for the license plate lights, the bulb is too long for the housing.

So from what I can tell:

2004 Grand Prix
Driver/Passenger Front/Back Interior Lights = 194 5-5050 SMD
Driver/Passenger Footwell Lights = 194 5-5050 SMD or the larger 194 9-5050 SMD
Trunk Light = ?
License Plate Lights = ?
Vanity Mirror Lights = the 31mm LED housing, haven't tested that though
Glove Box Light = 194 5-5050 SMD or maybe the larger 194 9-5050 SMD, didn't test yet

I guess the main concern other than size of the bulbs, is how they handle the electricity. Replacing the bulbs isn't much good if they don't work 100% of the time, or the key has to be in the ignition & turned to 1st click. From what I saw, for the trunk, in some situations, it won't light up to 100% of it's potential, heck, not even 50%. And it would really be a pain to have to wire in resistors to make these things work.
