intercooler gasket information needed

yeah, but what? is it a 6-32? 8-32? im pretty sure its a metric bolt. i wanted to get some stainless allen heads.

Sorry it took me so long, but my ZZP parts checklist says

8 - 100mm socket head bolts
1 - 120MM socket head bolt
1 - 130MM socket bolt

again these are for the stage 2 IC kit.

im just going to end up taking the bolts out and going to the hardware store with them. as long as i know they are 8mm bolts then im fine.

i just need ones that are an inch longer for the ssic.

Just get m8 x 1.25 pitch studs and cut them to length. I have found them on the web for as little as $3 for 24" section. It will make the install much easier with studs also.

have you done this ron? do you use any sort of special nuts or just a little thread lock? interesting..

thanks lee, youre a great help. :P

i want to know if ron (or anyone who has done this) uses a special kind of nut (ie. nylock etc). either that or ill just put lock washers on it and crank 'er down. the idea of studs for the blower is good, but im not sure im going to be the one to do it. we'll see..

:D sorry I had to.

since I already have the bolts, and like the idea of using studs to help with alignment, I think 4 wooded dowels may be in order.

bumping for Bio's what type of nut question.

well..nylock nuts would melt and suck, so those are out. a regular nut would most likely loosen up on its own without a lock washer, so id need those at least.

what about the nuts with the flange that have ridges in it to cut into the metal like the ones that hold the TB on? or maybe the ones with the star washers attached to them?

im really at a loss, hah.

If you want the best gasket hands down...use a GenV gasket. Some trimming required in the outlet area, but you get the benefit of having the metal impregnated gaskets. It will also help with the big drops in pulley sizes and the extra boost you will eventually develop.

How different is the L32 SC gasket? What all needs to be trimmed? My stock gasket is leaking and I need a new one that will hold the boost. Thanks

Just break down and pay the 12 bucks for the ZZP kit.:D

Anyone thinking about the L32 gaskets. I got them from Greg at Pace for $25 versus $35 from ZZP.

i may end up doing this anyway since i want a TB screen and the SC gaskets. might as well get them all at the same place.

I bought 4 100MM threaded rods to use as aligment pins when I do my install. It was a pain to find any type of 8x1.25 threaded rod or bolts above 2".Hope you have better luck than I did.
