Intercooler fill plastic piece

Yeah; it cools the boost going into your motor, not your engine coolant. It increases charge density, and reduces KR by cooling that air and preventing detonation. Hence why you can run a smaller pulley without knocking.
 


I wouldn't just run a smaller pulley without tuning it for the intercooler. But yes the IC doesn't effect coolant temps it just cools the air from the supercharger. You should be able to tell its working because the blower should be noticeably cooler after you drive for a while. After you let the car sit with the IC pump off the blower with heat soak and be much hotter.
 
Yes i was reading the engine temp. I didnt know all this. I was thinking the engine temp would change. Sorry guys. I have a tune for the new setup and it will be flashed on later. How did you guys hook your pump up?
 
i would buy a fog light switch and harness set, comes with a 30 relay, i got one for about 20 bucks, used it to power my electric fans in my 03 gmc truck, this way you get a diagram how to wire it up too. i hid the switch then i hooked the power for the switch up to a ignition "on" power source from the fuse box, that way the pump would turn off when when you turn the car off, and you would also be able to turn the pump off at will while its running if need be.

Whats the best liquid to use guys?? I have dexcool in now but im hearing that 50/50 green coolant w/ water wetter is better

I would run the Green stuff. Dex tends to get chunky and glob up. Green and if you want a little wetter water.

It really all depends on where you live. Some guys run just water in the IC because they live in a warm climate where it will never freeze. Some do wetter water and just water and some do all three mixed.

I live in MN so I have a 50/50 of Green in mine right now. I might add wetter water but I really don't think its going to effect the temps that much.
 


Before you tear it down get some carb cleaner and spray it around the IC core and supercharger. At least then you will know where the leak is and make sure to seal it good in that spot.
 
Exactly what i did and found out the spot right in the front middle garloc Gasket under the core behind the middle front fuel injector. Damn garlic gaskets.

I haven't run it in the intercooler yet, but I run the water wetter with antifreeze in my Honda. It's about the only way to keep temperatures at bay. It's not a clogged system or anything, it just runs hot. Heat is great in the wintertime though, lol.
 


smh so i tear it all down again after finding the vacuum leak near the garloc gasket. I put so much grey rtv that there is no way this ting couldn't seal. I then put everything back together and start the car and no codes. I go for a drive and everything is still good no code. I then go to home depot about 5-6 miles away and they damn code pops back up again. The crazy ting is i stop at the gas station on my way home from home depot and spray some carb spray around the supercharger and core and no leaks detected. What other alternatives to garloc gaskets do i have???
 
you might be running lean then, what do your fuel trims look like? the IC is condensing the air thats going into the motor, thus putting more air into it. could also be an exhaust leak, egr tube is common if you still have it.
 
so turns out after tinking i sealed the damn garloc gasket to lim to core, there is now a new leak near the rear fuel injectors.


So i have now come up wit a solution using the stock gm gasket. Im going to go buy one from autozone and cut the opening to match the lim porting and core then using the cutout piece, i will shaped it into the pcv area thats on the garloc gasket that the stock gasket doesnt and cut a ole for the pcv there. I might glue two together. Hopefully this works. If not, then i will just use GREY RTV by itself.

I drilled in both the necessary holes needed into the gasket even though it doesnt show the upper right hole in the last 2 pics. I put everything back together just now and started it up but didn't drive it yet. So far it sounds normal and no codes have popped up on my aeroforce gauges. Wont test drive it until i wake up to go to work 3 am.
