Intercooler Core replacement

GTP2K1

Looks like Ive gotta replace the IC core. Topped up the IC looking for the leak (pump running, engine off)... didnt find anything until I cranked (barely) the motor and saw the steam cleaning coming out the tailpipes (glad I run distilled water).

Anyone know the right part by chance? Feel free to PM it to me if its a secret, I haven't been around in a while. It would be greatly appreciated. Seems silly to spend $18x.00 dollars with shipping from ZZP when if I knew what heater core to order it'd probably cost $30-$40 bucks. Not like they haven't made a killing off me over the years.

Figured it couldn't hurt to ask an possibly save some dough. Thanks guys.

dont know where to get the new core, but how is using distilled water a good thing? its still water that can kill your engine being its inside of it now...:th_scratchhead:

ford probe core, rock auto has them for $40. The first one I got was a dead on match the last one I got had a foam surround on it that I had to wire wheel off. Spectre part # 93046

Sorry, I agree its not ideal, didn't mean to make it sound like a good thing. In my mind its better than burning coolant however. Once it cranked (no easy task, I almost gave in thinking I hydrolocked it) it burned the water that had built up off I let it run till the steam stopped then drove around the block just to be sure. I don't recommended anyone have an impromptu failure and steam clean their motor like I did.:th_shakinghead1:

I appreciate it and I'm gonna look into that one. But I thought that was the old core (probably what I have in there anyway). That part number is a much better start than I had, so thank you very much. :th_biggrin2:

just so you know, antifreeze also raises the boiling point of water too, so add antifreeze to your core, even tho your in FL.
