Intense gen 3 LSD

Anyone have any experience on durability etc of these on higher hp builds? +-400whp turbo car. Looking at getting one but I know some of the LSD's have been hit or miss in terms of durability. I don't want something that is going to explode and take out my trans, but some extra holding power on the front wheels would be awesome for traction and torque steer etc I would expect. Thanks for any insight!

I would suggest getting a GM Torsen or Quaiffe if you want an LSD. The Intense ones were hit and miss. I personally went through 3 in a short time and wasn't up in the high power like you are going for. My last one..FWIW was rock solid. But ....it took a few to get to that point.

what happened to the 3 that you went through? any trans damage or just not holding? I am not ready to spend the 2k on a quaife or torsen diff...

I recall Tim King replying to a similar thread but over in clubgp about the intense diffs, I believe he said something along the lines that stock was better. lol

First time I noticed it because the car wouldn't move unless it was turned off and restarted. Then it would move briefly and stop engaging again. This was because when the diffs go, they often self destruct. Fill the pan with diff soup. Not that you want it to happen, but the only good thing is the diff fluid goes right into the pan and is filtered before it goes anywhere else. This usually means that if you grenade a diff, you can pan drop, replace filter, diff and if needed the diff cover.

I learned this after sending the trans back to Intense and Tim went back through it. The next time or two, I sent just the diff back in to be redone again.

Some marks from the pieces rolling around it.

More of the diff guts in the pan

And the filter that saves the rest from metal soup, definately has a glitter look to it.
