intake theory idea? idk i might be not thinking all the way.

Stupid question.. if you had a more restrictive intake with a lot of bends, but got colder air, is it more efficient than a non restrictive intake that gets air that's a lot hotter? And could you compensate for the more restrictive air flow by dropping a pulley size to compensate for the loss of air flow. To "suck" more air in via the supercharger. ? Any ideas. Its early in the morning and maybe im just not thinking clearly but if anyone has input let me know

the more "suck" the blower has to do, the less efficient it is.

the more "push" it has to do, the less efficient it is.

Realistically how much more work would it be doing. Air to air are less restrictive for air to flow thru

I don't see how this thought process works...

More bends/smaller piping with colder air would probably = a better flowing/larger piping intake with hotter air.

Also, these cars are proven to not really care about intake air temps because the M90 gets the air retarded hot anyways. Also, pulley'in down wouldn't compinsate for anything...it'll just spin the blower more, create more heat, and without a proper tune, you'd be knocking...so a junky intake/proper pulley sized car will walk dog crap over a car with too small of a pulley that is knocking....

A) There is no Stupid Questions... only stupid answers :th_jester:

B) It wouldn't matter how cold the air is once the engine is up to operating temperature and the supercharger is hot... the temp going into the engine will be the same unless you get an intercooler.

Think of it as the supercharger is generating heat by spinning. Say under normal driving the SC is heated up to 150* so the air going thru the charger will be heated up to a certain point close to that. No matter how cold the air is, once it gets to the supercharger it will be heated up to the same point. This is why we have the reports of dyno testing HAI va CAI... the differences were not worth the extra money it takes to try and get the air cold. Just get an intercooler.

This is also why we refer to them as Heatons
