Installing HUD

Hey guys, just picked up a HUD from a GP at the yard for my 02 GT. Couple questions;

Is there a way to test that it works before I start chopping up my dash? Like maybe hook it up to a battery?

Also, looking to buy a HUD trim piece, preferably grey, but if its tan I could always paint it black.

You need the switch. Why didn't you get it? I hope you got the plug and wiring.

got the plug and wiring. just completely forgot to grab the switch.

found a guy on craigslist selling one for $10 who's only 5 mins away, so I'm good in that aspect now

I tested mine before hacking up the dash by removing the gauge cluster and plugging it in. And here are my install pics on page 4 if it helps you out.
