Installing Headers?



Well...nevermind...put SSAC's on a guys car and we didn't have that issue...put the Speed Daddy's on a guys car and couldn't even get it started
 
Aww man. I just ordered my speed daddy headers last week and they coming tuesday. I hope i am not going to have any problems.
 
Installing with friends is fun, however,
Projects involving beer, food, and too much sun can leave you with scratched paint, lost tools, busted knuckles, broken bolts, friends pissing in your yard, and worst of all, a leaky exhaust.
I do most things myself but $200 for an install sounds like a freakin deal if you trust your mechanic. Unless your friends are waaaay more responsible than mine.

Save the beer, burgers, BBQ for helping out on someone else's ride.

lucky..i got quoted around 500 to install my ssac headers..just gonna sell em now i think..not worth it and im going back to iraq in a couple days and dont ave time to do tis

I hope you told them you like to get kissed before you get screwed. That's a ridiculous price even for a shop.
 
Lol ya **** that, mines well buy TOG headers and learn how to install them for that kind of a price. Well mine will finally be on monday, i think i might call it quits after a 3.4 set up and move on to something more powerful. But i surely will keep the GTP for a fast daily driver. No tuner will pull fast one on me **** that. Peace :th_thumbsup-wink:
 
My Headers are on and they're badass. My garage installed the headers, welded in a new flex pipe, and included their own cat converter for $ 250. Not one leak. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Time for some big boy mods.
 


Don't pay someone, and do it yourself, so you know it is done correctly (granted your decent with a wrench). Someone who you pay may rush it or not give the same quality as if installing yourself.

If you are installing speed daddy headers on your car first before doing anything use a pipe expander to open up the pipes in the overlap area. This will give it more play when you go to install them making it much easier to align and get a good seal.

Don't skimp on clamps. Forget the U band clamps they sold you. Get some of the 2 bolt easy seal bands from napa or from torctite online. Get RTV Ultra Copper and go to town. Make sure to clean up your stock metal manifold gaskets nicely, and get the gaskets with the metal inserts for the downpipe to resonator. Use lots of RTV @ the V Clamp.

When removing stock rear manifold make sure engine is all the way forward as you can access it this way. May need to cut off downpipe bolts or heat them up to remove.
