Installed transgo shift kit, worked for a week, pcs problem back

I had the whining sound and harsh shifts associated with the pressure control solenoid problem. Installed a transgo shift kit, after reading all the great reviews and people saying it solved their problem. My 99 intrigue shifted great for about a week, and today the problem came back. Is this normal, for the shift kit to work for a little while then not help anymore?
Could it be the stored code in the computer making it whine and shift harsh again? I'd really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions, I can't have my transmission go out!

Usually when people say it "fixed" their problem it didnt... Its just a quick fix for the time being that works for some but not for everyone...

Hate to say it but assuming it was installed right, gonna be time for a new tranny...

A new tranny? That's the worst possible outcome. Replacing just the solenoid wouldn't work?

The solenoid replacement cost is almost more or very similar to the cost of a junkyard tranny. As stated by Scotty, did you change the filter as well? I'm pretty sure the kit comes with the new filter and gasket.

Yes, changed filter and added new fluid to replace what came out of the pan. This was the first time since that it acted up. I came home, and left again about 15 minutes later- no problems whatsoever. Im hoping it was just a fluke, prior to it shifting hard I had been sitting in stop and go traffic for a while, so maybe that was what did it.

Did you read my post on this issue?

If you truly only have a PCS issue ( and not other problems) the transgo shift kit AND the installation of a cooler of some sort OUTSIDE of the radiator cooling (the tranny cooler does all the cooling) will solve the issue. I now have 30,000 miles on my 4T65E since the Transgo shift kit and the installation of (2) 18,000 GVW double stack Long Coolers (36,000 GVW capacity) and have not have a hard shift issue once. The tranny has been perfect!

Change the tranny fluid and filter often (I change mine every 25-30,000 miles or every 3 years) and keep it running COOL. Heat kills ALL transmissions. I also have 2 extra magnets in the pan to collect more metal particles. At the last tranny change, the pan was clean-like new.

could just change pcs, pretty sure they are cheap and not that hard to replace, or buy a used a tranny and fix this one then you got a spare :th_thumbsup-wink: that's what I was going to do but I stored it a friends shop... then his shop went bankrupt along with my old tranny lol.

The PCS switch is relatively cheap but it is NOT easy to replace since there is no access to it from either under the car or from on top-the engine cradle has to removed and the whole transaxle dropped down to access the PCS solenoid. It is a big job and very expensive if you have to pay someone-easy $600-800. For about $100, the transgo shift kit and cooler is a steal and WILL cure the problem PLUS it is much better for the transmission to run cooler outside of the hot radiator-translation longevity.
