Installed Overkill PCM

So I received my overkill PCM today and installed it. By the way I have a 2007 GP GT 3.8 Series III supercharged. I could swear that when i start my car it is a longer crank?

But I no for sure that something is wrong-My Gas tank is full, but since I replaced the pcm my gauge reads arounf 1/4 tank???

Any idea's.....

The crankshaft position system variation learning feature is used to calculate reference period errors caused by slight tolerance variations in the crankshaft, the crankshaft balancer interupter rings, and the crankshaft sensor hall effect switches. The calculated error allows the PCM to accurately compensate for reference period variations. The crankshaft position system variation learning feature enhances the ability of the PCM to detect misfire events over a wide range of engine speed and load.

The crankshaft position system variation values are stored in the PCM non-volatile memory after the crankshaft position system variationlearn procedure has been performed. DTC 1336 set indicates that the crankshaft position system variation values have not been stored in the PCM and the crankshaft position system variationlearn procedure must be performed. The learn procedure is required after the following service procedures have been performed, regardless of whether or not DTC P1336 is set:
- PCM replacement
- Engine replacement
- Crankshaft replacement
- Crankshaft balancer replacement
- Crankshaft position sensor replacement
- Any engine repair(s) which disturbs the crankshaft/harmonic balancer to crankshaft position sensor relationship.

The Steps for a Variable Crankcase Learn Procedure:

NOTE: When you go to have your "learn" done, it'll go quicker if the engine is at normal operating temperature. The procedure isn't run on a cold engine. This should take NO MORE than 5 minutes and you need access to a TECH-II to complete this procedure:

1.) Turn key to on position
2.) Turn Tech II on
3.) Select the Diagnostics Menu
4.) Select Car Information (Year, Make, Engine, Etc.)
5.) Select Special Functions
6.) Select Variable Crankcase Learn Procedure
7.) Follow On Screen Directions.

The Crankcase Learn Procedure is going to ask the Technician to do the following :

1.) Put E-brake On
2.) Make sure car is in neutral or park
3.) Turn engine on.
4.) Rev Car to Rev Limiter (car will hit limiter at 3,000 RPM.)
5.) Wait about 5 seconds
6.) Rev Car to Rev Limiter (The car will this time his about 5,500 to 6,000
RPM)
7.) Wait about 5 seconds.
8.) Car is done.

So I cant just drop in a PCM? I need to perform other steps in order for everything in my car to work correctly?

Normally yes, you can just drop it in.

But seeing as your having problems it would be best to do a CASE learn and see if the problem is resolved by it.

However.... I don't see how it would effect your gas gauge not working correctly.

So I pulled the Overkill PCM and reinstalled my factory one ( I kept it). and my fuel gauge returns to normal

Well I sent a email off to Will and will ave to see what he has to say I guess.

I am lost

Honestly sounds like something was done incorrectly with the PCM then.

When i installed mine i had no problems. I did read somewhere that there is more problems with the newer model GP's and overkill pcm's. When i got my pcm i emailed Will and asked if i needed a "case learn" he said only if you get a check engine light, and i didnt. So i guess im in the clear?

Ya you shouldn't need a case learn unless you get a check engine light from installing the new pcm. So you're in the clear.

I get no check engibe light. One other thing is when I open my ignition or start my car with the over kill pcm my DIC tells me that my Cruse control is on???

I think it is faulty

When I installed mine early week my ABS, trac off, ebrake, and service trac system lights all came on. I tried doing a case learn w/ my aeroforce and the next day the lights were off. I took my car to my mechanic and he said he didnt see any problems. Maybe the case learn may help?
