infinity kappa vs. reference

so im pretty sure kappa's are better, but can you run them without an amp or no? i read that you cant run the kappa's without one and can run the references withouth one. i just want a second opinion

You need an amp for kappas in most cases or they dont sound like they should but the difference in the reference and kappa is night and day kappas ussually come with external crossovers.

I use kappas, and they sound excellent on an amplifier of about 75 rms watts each or so.

well the thing is i wanna keep my costs down as low as possible while still getting the best quality. betterly put i wanna get the best door and rear deck speakers i can without going to an amp. the woman at the local stereo shop said infinity's are really tho only ones that can pump out the tones of country and rock songs without an amp, but she didnt tell me which ones. im not looking to go to an amp or subs. and i already bought the pioneer 4300 headunit

Power is power. It doesn't matter where it comes from these days. Music is dynamic and the internal amp on a radio doesn't always keep up well with that due to size and heat constraints.

What you want to do when choosing speakers is pick out the highest sensitivity you can if you're worried about output, while using the deck power. Majority of time you end up over driving the internal amp and then you blow speakers because it's putting out a clipped signal or there's a lot of distortion(most people don't notice either).

Buy cheaper aftermarket speakers, but get an amp with em. Your will get better sound.
