Incompetent people

So tired of standing in line at Autozone for 15-20 minutes while all their employees are occupied by idiots who need their hand held because they didn't bother to do any research on the right part or what they really need and why. If you're going to be that much of a bumbling fool, just save the rest of us some time and take your car to a shop and have them fix it. I always make sure I know exactly what I need before I walk in the door, in and out in less than 5 minutes.

I don't even tell them I need such and such for such and such vehicle, I go in and I'm like I need 1 of part number xxxxxx and 2 of xxxxxxxxxx and so on, in and out in like a second.

I've tried giving them the part no. straight away, but usually I get a blank stare and they insist on continuing to follow their routine of asking for vehicle make/model, year etc,. and typing it all in the computer to look it up, only to find the same part no. I just told them. I figure either its so ingrained in them they don't even think about it, or they just don't really believe a customer could know the right part number.

ironic slick2500 was the 1st one to post reply to the op, by reading the thread title i was expecting the thread to be about him.......

LMFAO :th_laugh-lol3:

to the op and to think these people are the same type that expect to be paid 20 dollars and hour like mcdonalds..... lol!

I've come to notice that most of the incompetent people at Auto Zone are behind the counter.

As for the "insisting to go on with their routine", no its more like, they don't know how to just enter the part number. I've had tons of better luck at my local Advance. I either order online and pick up in store (which they love), or I walk in and hand them a piece of paper with the part numbers of what I need (which they also love)

At my nearest AZ, they have to call somebody who speaks english to the counter if its me in there with the part number written down.

I prefer Advance because they have better quality parts like Moog, Dorman, even CarQuest, etc., vs AutoZone DuraLast crap. How good the help is depends on the store manager....some can hire/train well, others not so much. Only store that I get consistently good help at is Napa, they also have good parts but tend to be pricey.

But I tell ya, they are out there for sure. My nephew's kid is 21, doesn't own a computer or smart phone, doesn't have an email address. He's going to trade school for HVAC repair and says "I don't ever see myself having a need for the Internet". His Mom and Dad aren't like that, so not sure what gives there....but geez, what 21-year old says they don't need the internet? I feel sorry for him when he's 40.

i was waiting on line 4 deep at advance auto, guy at the counter calls me up, im like these guys were here first, hes like they are waiting for that guy cause he speaks Spanish, i dont.......ok then, ill take first class.....

I can't say I agree with the OP... we might tend to be internet-researching, savvy shoppers that already know what they want... but I wouldn't bash the other customers because they need help. A brick-and-mortar store provides services, including helping people figure out what they need. It's baked into the part pricing. At least, that's my take on it.

What the ****? So now you are taking to personally attacking me in other threads? Why don't you go drive your car off a bridge oh wait you can't because its always broken.

1) subscribe to advance auto online parts club
2) order online exactly what you need and enter club codes to get 10% to 30% discounts
3) pickup parts 1 hour later
4) ?????
5) profit

^ yup that's all I do now

Years and years ago when the online thing started it was great. I remember going for a belt for the 3.4 pulley.

couldn't even stop in at advance auto for a simple belt.
Size and part number given - still get the "what vehicle " question
Me-don't worry about it I need this part xxxxxx
Them-ok but we need to make sure it's the correct part
Me-no it's ok I already know
Them-well some parts can't be returned if they are used for the wrong vehicle
Me-it's just a belt , can you please give me the belt part #xxxxx?
manager comes up
Them- what's the vehicle ?
Me- fine. It's for 03 regal
them- see. Glad we looked it up. That's the wrong part number.

So I just placed my order online in the store. Used the famous P20 code at the time
Watched the dude pull it from the rack
I came up to the counter. Picked up my belt. Only question they asked was for my ID and debit or cash lol

Every order is stored online for warranties. You get cash codes to redeem You can use PayPal. It's great. I don't think I've ever bought anything directly at the counter. The savings are too great to pass up by ordering online.

That's really friggin sad. The last time I was in autozone, guy in front of me couldn't speak English and just kept rattling off in his gutter language. Of course, there was no one in the store to accommodate the needs of this poor, destitute "dreamer." I just walked out, would've been there all night waiting for that undocumented democrat. That's another thing I could rant all day about; I'm tired of seeing our society being culturally appropriated and shifted to suit people because they have zero interest in acclimating themselves. I hate watching my homeland being degraded to a 3rd world sewer.

Even if you order online and skip the step of having the employee look it up, you still have to go into the store and wait in line forever behind clueless people.
