impossible to remove marks on my car HELP

so i washed my trans am sunday, and noticed marks all over the hood. i thought no biggie they will come out when i clay it during the week, right? wrong. i go to clay a section of it and bam, nothing, looks the same. next i tried some polishing compound. that didnt do anything but waste time. so after that i broke out the rubbing compound and used it repeatedly going back and forth with that and clay bar. still no luck. they appear to be a whitish greyish clear color. they look like some kind of animal but there is no consistant pattern to really make out what it is. some marks almost look like hand prints because when i look closely i can see what looks like finger prints (the lines in them anyway). but they are all over the hood. and only the hood. i have no idea what it is or what i can use to remove it.

any ideas anyone?

Do you have any pictures that show them?
I know if bird poo gets left on for a long time, it can leave etch marks on the surface (but can be removed).
Or maybe the clear is starting to fade? What color is the car?

It might take using a Porter Cable (or something similar) with a more aggressive polish or swirl remover to work them out.

wet sand 2000-2500 heavier grit if you have experiance get some rubbing compound and borrow a friends buffer and try that. BlackGT97 has the right idea

definitely not from a bird, its been stored in a tent thingy all winter, no car cover was on it tho, last time that happens. and the color is sunset orange metallic, i doubt the clear is fading it doesnt seem to have that effect. wetsanding does seem like the way to go, i didnt think of that, good idea :) ill have to give it a shot when i get the chance, even tho i wanted to avoid something that involved but if thats what it takes so be it. and no i dont have any close up pictures at the moment.

Pictures would be nice. I think I may be having like "Cracks" in the paint. Its not chipping but like cracking up?
