Impending doom?

hope so. but then again all of mine blew out and leaked like you took a warm syrup bottle up side down and squeezed as hard as you could lol aka fast.

low oil pressure light never came on and my crank case was very low on oil.
 


I'm going to pick one up to be safe. The oil that came out may have been enough to make the pins not make proper connection.

When I stop to get the sensor I will see if they have the oil pressure tester on hand and I will verify oil pressure before I put the new one in.
 
if you have not changed one before. have a pail under it cause about a 1/2 quart will leak out the hole.

and the threads are tapered, so only turn it into the middle of the thread locker and make it snug, or the housing can crack.

easy way ive found is wheel off reach in with channel lock pliers. you can get a socket on it but theres no room to work, a wrench also works but no where to work. channel locks, easy peasy.
 
Well swapped the sensor. When I looked at the old one you could tell where some oil was definitely in there. Starting to really think that messed with the connection and tripped the light. Still no noises. I didn't run it hard today, but I did put load on it and it sounds absolutely normal.
 
sounds like you licked out, 12 dollar sensor for the win.

id keep a eye on it tho. i had 2 different brands, they both failed. thats why i have a plug in the hole now. 30 cents won that battle.
 
Definitely going to keep an eye out. The leak from the old one didn't seem terrible. I actually threw it back in the new box and in the glove compartment just in case.
 


I'd say it's likely a sensor with that oil.

As for starvation from fast acceleration... no.. don't fool yourself into this one.
 
If the oil was low then it could possibly happen, but being I had plenty of oil it definitely wasn't a cause. Drive to work this morning still had no issues.
 
Everything seems okay. I drove the car to my uncle's yesterday where I changed the old sensor out. No light there, no light after I changed the sensor. I ran to the store last night and no light. I drove to work and back and no light. Everything still sounds normal. I haven't beat on the car since then, but when at my uncle's I did a brake boost to let my cousin's listen to it under load and they heard nothing out of the ordinary.

I think I lucked out here.
 


I say hammer on it next couple days before that road trip, then unplug that connector and see if it's dry. I bet it was just the little drip messing with good contact. However mine never turned the light on even with the connector full of oil.
 
I'll give it a little bit of hell tomorrow. The road to my uncle's place is perfect for it, and I have to go there anyway to drop off some supplies in prep for the road trip.

I want to see how well the trans cooler does too.
