Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Impala -> GTP instrument cluster swap

Its mostly the cop package but there are a couple impalas that have it as well that arent cop cars. My Friends car is an LS Sport Package that came out the year before the impala SS. the '04 SS has the same gauge cluster but I beleive they swap the volt meter for a boost gauge. Which would also be pretty sweet lol

The difficult part would be the info center and odometer since its digi and all... but i have been contemplating the same idea since i had my cop car and putting one in a gp... nothing like trial and error right? i think the next time i hit up the boneyard ill see if i can get an impala one to physically fit into the gp dash and if so, ill probably pick it up and see what i can do. if successful ill make a writeup.

I would love to see the wright up if you do it. Take pictures for those of us who dont read so good... er, well... lol.

The other concern I can see (if you REALLY want it) is the shifter positioning.

What would need to change about the shifter positioning? I know the cop cars have the shifter mounted on the steering column but my friends impala has this gauge cluster with a floor shifter and I beleive the SS has the shifter on the floor as well.

I wasn't talking about the shifter itself, but the display in the gauge cluster. Isn't it digital on there too? Though as I said, it really doesn't make a huge difference, I'm sure you could live without it on the dash as long as you know how to look down. =P

Ok I see what your saying. Electrical stuff is really what I know the least about. I dont mind workin on the greasy parts of the car, I just get outside my comfort zone when it comes to electronics lol. It would be pretty awsome to get the digital gear indicator to work and replace the plastic around the actual shifter with the one out of a floor shifted impala. It has no P-R-N-D-3-2-1 written on it and looks way cleaner that way.

Yeah I'd do that, get something all smooth and leveled out, getting rid of that little "dip" for the letters and numbers as a whole.

We need some Insturment Cluster wiring diagrams for a
97-02 Grand prix
99-04 Monte Carlo

the GP uses 2 big black plugs, while the MC uses a single blue plug. im assuming that the MC gets all the gauge info from one databus wire, while the GP gets each signal from a different wire.

If the MC uses individual wires for speedo/tach/volt/gas/oil temp/oil press, then it shouldnt be too hard to swap in a new cluster.

im assuming the tach signal should be identical, 3.8 motor
speedo sensor / fuel gauge / temp gauge should all hook up the same
Oil pressure may need to have a sensor installed, and re-wired up to the gauge cluster
oil temp should be the same.

If all else fails, you can always make your own cluster. it will at least fit right, and you can use whatever kind of gauges you want.

That's preety cool. I been to Google and there are none for sale. No need to be funny
