• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I just bought a 2008 GXP- love it!!! It's nice to be able to pass the 'stangs & Mopars on the freeway while only pulling 1800-2000 rpms, barely breaking a sweat. This not my first Pontiac, I've had a '95 Grand Prix SE 3.8, '97 Sunfire GT 2.4, and a 2002 Grand Am SE 2.2. I guess I've always been a Pontiac fan, lol. They're great cars and I'm usually right on at diagnosing any issues they like to throw at you, which is what I liked about this site and made me want to join. I found a lot of info from the posts and look forward to having intelligent conversations about cars in general with people who actually know what I'm talking about, especially fellow GP owners.

i like what you said towards the end there " look foward to having intelligent conversations" hahah there is no such thing on this forum we just talk smack, troll, and just be idiots with the occasional hint of knowledge thrown in. but welcome

pix? I'll wash it tomorrow and post them. It's nothing to be impressed with yet, still stock, but I have a few things in mind...

:th_laugh-lol3: Sorry to disappoint you but I'm the chick under the car in a pair coveralls, not the one on top of it in a bikini making a birdbath out of the hood. smh...

You'd be a lot cooler if you were both!

sorry my bad it was the 3.1- I could've sworn it was a bigger motor than that...

It's ok, Rare likes to overcompensate some times too.

ok, so I'm taking my car in for alignment tomorrow cuz the dealer I bought it from didn't have the sense to align it after front pads/rotors/tie rods. yeah... anyway, when I was leaving work tonight my car had a tick after I started it, did not do that before. It was really cold, no doubt, and I park on the top level of a 12 story parking structure, but it doesn't even do that in the morning after sitting all night. I know the oil level is good because that was changed last week, but I was reading about the AFM using oil but it will check ok on the stick? Idk, just glad it's still under warranty, but I really don't like the thought of replacing the pistons/rings w only 52K mi on.

could be injectors ticking. 3.8's tend to tick a lot.

yeah, I'm not sure how the previous owner took care of it. I'll have the shop check the fuel system too. I've been trying to baby it until I could get it in, but I was running it pretty hard on the freeway this morning.

Herp. Critical reading skills, Odi. :p

You'll probably get more focused attention if you upload a video of the noise to youtube and post it in the sub-forum for your engine: 5.3L V8 (LS4)

Insofar as your AFM usage is concerned, I think the worst I heard was a quart burned per 3,000 miles. The fix is to get that turned off, though, since you have a 2008, tuning may be impossible, depending on the bus. Other GXP owners should prove a bit more useful than me.

Welcome to GPF!

I didn't even see his 3.8 comment, lol. Yeah, I'm running an LS4, the DIC gave a gas cap warning so of course I'm waiting for the dreaded evap leak code. I ordered a new gas cap just in case. My Sunfire and Grand Am both had evap issues, in fact the GA ended up blowing the ignition mod which jacked everything else up. New cat/plugs/ignition mod and fuel pump.
