• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I'm sure you've heard this before

As you can tell, I'm new to this site. I'm hoping for a nudge in the right direction. I recently purchased a 1997 grand prix GT as a 1st car for my son, the car runs great but does have a few electrical issues. The a/c only works on the #5 setting, the interior lights do not work at all including the dash lights (makes for interesting night driving when trying to see what your speed is) the fuel guage works from time to time, and the windshield wipers stop in the center of the windshield instead of going all the way back down. I did some research and found that some of the problems were solved by replacing the ignition switch/harness which I have already done and none of the problems have been resolved. I'm hoping there is a relatively simple answer to these problems because I really like the car and so does my son.

Windshield wiper is due to the parking transmission on the motor and or the circuit board. You can get a whole new assym from Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts for around $45.00 shipped. That's what i did it's 10times cheaper than buying the parts that are malfunctioning new. Just take the old assym out and put in the new simple as that.

The A/C is due to a blower motor resistor. This can also be had from Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts for around 30ish. It's kind of a bear to replace if you've never done it before.

The fuel gauge probably needs a new sender on the fuel pump canister. It's not hard to replace but it can be a little difficult to get the fuel canister in and out of the tank. Its located under an access pannel in the trunk toward the rear seat and behind the pass through. You can also get this from Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts

Your dash lights could be a fuse or it could just have all of the bulbs burnt out. Hard telling.

Hey i'm slowly getting better at working on these darn cars. At 182k i'm learning to fix all sorts of things lol.

How come you whined about the resistor and didn't list out the tools needed for each job? Resistor isn't fun...it's in an ugly location.

Wow, it never even occurred to me to check the dimmer switch. Thanks so much for all the helpful suggestions, I will take your advice and let you know how it all turned out. I work on an offshore drilling rig so I won't be home for 16 more days.
