i have a 97 gtp
driving down the rd it just dies at a light oil light comes on
stop and check oil it was full so i head home and it keeps dying and not making like a knocking sound is how id describe it the temp goes up not to the red but higher than normal get her home shut her off i have no idea what the problem could be i drove it alot yesterday with no problems whatso ever it just randomly started doing it out of the blue
 


ok car dies when a s/c starts to go bad or goes bad what noises does it make how does it effect the car?

it isnt so much of a knocking noise but more a bad screeching sound like metal rubbing together in a bad way its hard to say where the noise is comming from i cant seem to locate it i tried taking video but it wouldnt record sound
 
Please..turn your phone sideways and type to us in some detail if you really want some help.

You say you wouldn't describe a knocking noise in your first post, but temp is up.
Second post is.. screeching noise.

We are going to need a little history and background of what led up to this ...even that vid you mention would help.
 
mine screeched pretty loud when i spun a bearing. then the car wouldnt run and it would just die randomly. then i couldnt start it at all.

does this sound like the s/c coupler? or maybe needs supercharger oil ? i am so lost this is my Dd and am having a hard time getting to and from work until i resolve and fix this plz help
 


sounds like a broken flexplate to me. as far as the car dying, does it die suddenly? or die slowly?
 
it dies pretty suddenly id say its not instant but it dies when i slow down if im driving it itll stay running but if i let off the gas then seh will die
when its cool it will idle and run and not die but when she warms up is when it runs ****ty it also makes the noise regardless of the car temp
 
check the easy, simple stuff to replace: the flexplate, all the idler and tensioner pulleys, the crank pulley, etc. if its an internal problem then its gonna start costing a lot more money.
 
went to see what the symptoms were today car would not start would not roll over would try to but then stop like it couldnt roll all the way over ... the battery was not dead so that was not the issue help
