Ignition switch trouble, climate control

Here is the deal, i have an issue with my gtp 2001. It's intermittent, but it make me angry as **** lol.

Sometime when i start my car, with the climate control on position 1 2 3 or 4, my automatic headlights are not working, my DIC,defrost, and climate control neighter. And then, sometime 10 minutes later or 2 or 5,i hear something Under my sterring column make click click, and then all of this start to work fine, but if i turn off the car i have the same issue to deal with.
Also, if i put my climate control on position 5 before turning my key ton "on" position, all the stuff is working well (i heard there were a protention on this so the 5 position bypass a relay etc etc) and by that, it's a half an half chance if i turn the button to lower position, all the things ( headlights,DIC,climate, defrost ... ) will shut down..

NOW, on the net, it all come to one response, the ignition switch, can someone confirm this?, and if so, does someone have a picture of it in place, and is it true it's corrosion on the pins and i just have to clean the pins?

i'm about to put the car on fire since i'm tired of this haha Help please

I have the same symptoms as you; started about 2 months ago. Very random and only done it 4-5 times. I also have wipers that will come on then off randomly on their own, and when they are on intermittent, sometimes they wipers stop working and I have to turn them to hi then back to intermittent for them to work properly again.

With that being said, the common denominator is the MFS, and I am confident that it is the problem. I bought a new one last week and will be installing it when the rain stops, hopefully in the next few weeks. I believe the issue with the MFS is the contacts get corroded and/or deteriorate.

Here is some info that I am using on:

don't think that this multi fonction switch is related to my trouble with the climate control..

someone else have another idea?

change your ignition switch. or clean the contacts. becareful when taking it apart if you try. it has springs in it. and it must be taken apart a certain way. there is a ring where the input is from the key tumbler. you must take that ring off first before trying to separate the switch otherwise youll break the housing. Its just snap clips on the side of the switch that you pry up with a flat blade screw driver. Take off the top piece first ( the piece that holds the return springs for the switches. Once you get inside you will see where you have to clean the contacts. You also need a reverse torx bit to get some screws out. I was able to get them out with needle nose pliers but it was a biotch.

My ignition switch issue caused all sorts of weird **** that I couldn't explain. Don't clean the contacts. For as much of a pain it is to remove, just replace it so you don't have to again. Amazon should have the one you need for about $45 or maybe Rockauto has it even cheaper. You definitely do need torx socket as said here:

I bought these here:
