ignition switch questions. help me out please.

well everyonce in awhile i will start my car and it will start but none of the gauges or anything works, just lights. i had a code for ignition something so if i just replace it you think this will all go away? and being i have an 2005 will there be anything that will need to be prgrammed by dealer?
 


no just replace the ignition switch and hopefully that should be it. the switch is a common gm problem around these years. most people i know with 05-06 cobalts and gp's have had to replace theirs.

This has happened once or twice with my 05 as well, I'm hoping it doesn't become a regular thing or I'll be replacing my ignition switch as well :/
 
Does your DIC flake out too? Mine does this thing where the AC and all gauges but speedometer shut off. My DIC will flash random service this or that errors won't show trans temp, voltage and gas stats. 2005 gpgt. To fix it I have to shut off the car take key out of ignition open drivers door, close, arm aftermarket alarm, disarm, open and close driver door start car.... so stupid.

at first I thought it was BCM but reading around the GM forums it might be the Viper 5900 I had installed
